Hello friends,
I have harvested my golden teacher 5 days ago and left them dry on a dish (mainly in the dar,no fans, no products ). However they have been developing some white mold. What is it? Are they still good?
Thanks a lot!!!

If you leave fresh produce out at room temperature what do you think will happen. They sell mushrooms refrigerated for a reason. You can't just leave them out.

Seriously what the hell were you trying to accomplish here? Not even a fan. Just sitting out? What a waste of a good harvest.

That is truly sad...
Those were great looking fruits.
In case it’s not crystal clear already, you need to actively dry them with a dehydrator, a fan, or desiccants.

It hurts me when people get this far with the hobby and then do something like this.

Hey everyone give the guy a break! This hobby is all about failure and success. First Your fail, then you learn, then you succeed eventually. Idk why people are so quick to talk shit.
OP, you need a dehydrator or a desiccant or a fan, anything but letting them Air dry. If you want to keep the fresh and wet, put them in the fridge, dry them immediately after harvest. Unless you want to get sick, throw those shitty mold Shrooms away and prepare to dry your second flush properly, use the search tool and figure out how and shah you need to do for your second flush or your next grow, so you can save your fruits! There is tons of drying teks on here.

I don't see mold... I see mushrooms turning back into mycelium
I've seen worse oysters for sale at the grocery store.
If those aren't wet with bacteria, just put them in the oven at low temp with the door open and a fan pointed at it till they're cracker dry, and they're fine to use. Unless someone can show me where there's actual mold.

Yeah I have no clue actually what it is, but other than the time it takes to colonize, it probably costs your $5-$20 in materials you are loosing if you trash those fruits. Compared to if it is mold, That’s your life or $ spent on doctor visits and a terrible tummy ache. There’s no reason to rush this hobby when it involves your health.

Hello guys,
thank you for your answers. I have made the mistake of trusting the techniques of a friend who already cultivated mushrooms. It's my first time and I trusted him, bad idea!
It's really a pity I have to throw them.. I agree with you, it really looks like mycelium trying to grow again but I don't want to risk my health for a mushroom...
I am crossing the finger to have a second flush at least
Thanks again!

Well that was graceful. I'm sure it'll treat you well with that attitude.
I would consider drying them anyway.

Boil them for 30min and enjoy the tea!
15 min boil should be enough to kill all mold. 30 min is peace of mind. Freeze leftover and use within a couple of weeks. Don't throw them out if it's all you got
Next time be sure to use a drying method that removes all moisture quickly based on your environment. In my house, a light fan is enough for most fruit to go cracker dry in under 24hr. I finish off with a few hours in dehydrator to ensure no moisture.
Everyone lives in different environments. Don't put your trust anyone that says "X is required" or "If you're doing more than Y, you're doing it wrong". This forum is full of parrots.

Definitely not worth the risk to eat those.
Once you get a couple grows under your belt and realize how easy cubes are you’ll laugh thinking about even considering it. Being sick while tripping from mold toxin and psilocybin tea sounds like hell.

It's pretty easy to say it's not worth it if there's ANY risk, but I've never in my life seen mold grow on fruit bodies left in open air for 5 days.
You don't refrigerate your mushrooms while they're growing, so what's the difference? They're not alive once you chop 'em? Yes they are. And pure mycelium with very little nutrition in it resists mold quite well. It's bacteria you have to worry about, that's why we don't store fresh mushrooms in bags.
I'm not saying to eat them, play it safe, I'm just saying - that's not mold.
