What is wrong with this picture? (Fluffy Mycelium) (*Pics Inside*)
    #26968695 - 10/04/20 08:07 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Ever since this cake was spawned in an SGFC, it started growing this snowy puff and there is no idea what it is. The perlite was checked and it had become a bit dried at some point, it was then rehydrated. Another clue is that *maybe* the cake has been misted too much. How to tell how much and for how long one should mist? Is there hope for it to fruit in this state?
its nearing 6 days now since birth.

Is it also possible that its bacterial contam? ive looked into other threads and there is no definitive answer to similar cases
thanz

Could be, it's common with over misting....Just mist when the verm starts looking dry and you really only want enough to just rehydrate the surface a bit...doesn't need to be soaking wet.

alright, got it.
quick update by the way, the puff was poked with a cotton swab just a few minutes ago and it bruised, and the texture was rubbery and didnt smear any material on the swab confirming that it surely is part mycelium at least. could it be that bacteria and shroom mycelium can co-exist in the same lump?

Dunno what else could be wrong, there is a 6500 K cfl lamp shining on them, the perlite is dampish, sgfc built to spec etc. Only thing left to speculate upon is indeed too much water and/or low FAE which baffles the mind how it could occur seeing as the perlit is damp and the sgfc built to spec.

(flash / no flash)

will any past overmisting halt fruit production from now on?

They can and do...you should still get fruits

Bacteria can make the myc grow puffy like that.

does the OP look bacterial?
if yes, what is the most common bacterial species that gives off this kind of look?
will peroxide solution eat it?

Best thing to do is just give it air and not soak it with water. Peroxide ain't gonna help it any. Just let it fruit.

They have been left unmisted for 15 hrs so far and only lightly misted moments ago
Seem to be drying up
Priper misting will be given in  couple hrs
They are nearing 5 days now. Is it typical for one to not get any fruits these many days in?
