Damn dude, I'm sorry to hear all that. You're always a welcome presence on the shroomery and I wish you a speedy recovery. I know a thing or two about making mistakes man, and it happens. Take care of yourself, I wish nothing but the best for the shroomery's Grand Old Fart.

So I was released from the hospital 9/23, insurance wouldn't cover transportation so I took $7 taxi to the PT facility. Suprise, mandatory 14 day isolation required, technically not to leave my room but I'm out and about daily, (wearing my mask) getting cold water from the day room, or checking my weight in day room, or random questions for the nurse station. No one has challenged me, I need to walk daily, not pacing my room like a caged animal. I should have gone straight home but was concerned my insurance might have denied coverage if I skipped the PT facility (technically AMA). Food is great, in room PT 2X a day good for the muscles, but really bad for my already beat up knee. The 14 day isolation is up on Oct 6,then hopefully 1 or 2 days evaluation in their gym. I'll be begging out patient rehab if they think I still need it.
Funny/scary story, the day after implant, nurses come running into my room. "What's going on? You feel OK?" Apparently my heart was going crazy for 5 seconds and my defibrillator picked it up and sent a signal to them. I told them I felt fine, I was just pissed off and yelling at some A hole MAGA on TV defending tRump's continuous lying and bullshit, lol. I guess I need to learn better anger management and stop letting politics bother me so much. I did my mail in ballot today (including legal mj here in NJ)and will mail it tomorrow. Guess I'll just concentrate on getting stronger so I can gtfo all the sooner.

It so fucking sucks that you need to deal with insurance companies for medical reasons... Can't cover this, can't cover that... $500 a month don't buy you shit... It's a completely fucked up reality that only the US has...
I wish you Americans universal coverage as soon as possible.

Universal healthcare would limit innovation and would perpetuate a one fits all mentality. It would be awful. In case you wondering, I don't have insurance. One day I'll be able to get it though.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

That story is funny as hell. Sounds about right, I'm the same way!
Congratulations on this next chapter in your journey! That sucks about the mandatory isolation, but at least the food is good?
Saw the pics of you, and your eyes still shine bright. Stay strong, work that rehab, and your head up. Looks like you have a great attitude and are making progress- So keep it up!

My insurance is almost $900/month, but because I'm retired and my Social Security payments are only $1750/month, I only pay $62/month. Dr office visits are $40 copays, meds 7 - $15 copays, but I still get suprise bills months after visits/procedures/lab costs.

Hope you have a speedy recovery Vinsue. I guess the bright side is that you have a private room now, imagine if you had a roommate who stayed up all night watching Fox

That's actually just the typical talking point of congressmen who receive funding from insurance companies and pharma, and not true at all. The "innovation" part of our healthcare system has basically already been socialized, since pharma and biotech companies largely refused to put money into researching anything except the most common conditions that would sell them the most pills. Now the government funds the innovation through grants and government assistance. The orphan drugs that get developed are often patented and priced at such a point that they're out of reach for the majority who actually need them, or financially crippling. The rest of the world pays far less for the same drugs. It's an awful system.
There really is no downside to switching to universal healthcare, medicare for all would be bad at first though because the rates it pays to providers would cause salary cuts and medical office/hospital closures all over due to lost profits. That could be alleviated by raising reimbursements and factoring in a yearly increase based on COL and inflation, which could be paid for by drug-price negotiations and increasing taxes to a rate that would likely be lower than what people currently pay for their insurance. We already have the infrastructure and education system in place that would prevent a lot of the long wait times other countries see, except for in the rural areas that already have that problem.
No one should have to make decisions about their health based upon what some douchebags in suits with no medical background think is appropriate. Our current system essentially allows insurance executives to practice medicine without a license.

Well put, feevers.
Hey PAW, Trump also promised to lower drug costs (in 2 wks)!
Dang vinsue, it's morbid and dreary outside today, you're lucky that you have a nice toasty private room with food service. And hot nurses/PTs & techs? What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?

Hey vinsue good luck with your medical stuff man. You know when a politician is lying? When their lips are moving. I'd really like one of those baby Trump balloons you offered but only if you let me pay for the postage and buy you some weed in return... might help with the bills, and you can never have too much weed

Within 4 months I was drinking 20-30 beers a day and couldn't stop.
I now have 6 days sober and I got some more news 5 hours ago. I now need a defibrillator installed tomorrow because my heart is only working at about 30%.
If you believe in a God I'd appreciate you keep me in your prayers and if you don't, wish me good luck and a quick recovery. I love you guys and gals and anyone in between .
