Dunking a coir tub with light mycelium density. Concerns of overwatering.

In a seperate post, I was concerned about other mushroom type contamination and another user said they're all cubes, just suffering from bad conditions [over watering].  Since then, I've had about 1.5 light flushes (resulting in about 65g of cracker dry material).  I've been told that it's good to submerge in cold water for an hour in between flushes to cold shock and hydrate, but it seems to me like that would simply result in over hydrating because the mycelium seems pretty thin to me.

What steps should I be taking to ensure lots of pinning and large flushes?

Dunk it drain it and let it do its thing, too wet often just means you're not getting the proper fae on your initial flush

Nope, no need to worry about this, just as long as you drain after dunking. When you dunk, the mycelium absorbs as much as it needs. After you drain it, the lingering moisture either gets absorbed or evaporates. A thin substrate will often swell up slightly as it absorbs water, like a dried sponge rehydrating.

If you keep growing using roughly the same amount of spawn/coir, you'll start to get a sense of what a dehydrated/spent substrate weighs, versus a heavier one that's holding more water. You'll be able to judge your rehydration accordingly.
