Been wondering about this recently, how hard is it/what is the process of cloning wild specimens that don't have a good, sterile inner area of tissue to take a sample from?
I'm not familiar with Hericium Coralloides but the way it branches makes it seem a bit more difficult to get a nice clean sample. Or with very small mushrooms like liberty caps do you still just try to tear the stipe in half?
Old comment from RR says iodine rinse and/or sterile water dunk, is that all there is to it besides continuous transfers afterwards?

I don't bother with iodine. But I do multiple sterile water dunks. I'll PC 3-4 mason jars with water, then line them up and dunk once in each, then onto agar.

Smart Muncha: Will try that next time..
@Lenz In this case the base of both Lions mane and this H. Coralloides have a little bit thicker and meatier "stem" super short, in the base of the mushrooms, where it attaches to what ever substrate it grows from.

my first tubs third flush, better then I expected! Curious about why the tubs are ripening quicker on one side. I was thinking maybe it is caused by being in my closet?

I made a post about this a couple months ago or so but wanted to show you people here... a friend of mine was in an Ecuador phase and in one of her tubs a random albino popped up.. of course she cloned it and in a little time she had a couple tubs full of these albino Ecuador cubes. Now that I have the culture I plan to grow it out and pass the spores around.

Went on a bit of a road trip to grab some equipment and my new dehydrator had arrived when I got. I have two presto 23qt cookers and a nesco snackmaster that I've been using. So I'm hella stoked to add my first All American and an Excalibur. I also ordered a second AA 75x from one of the vendors but the lead time is approx. 3 weeks so it'll be a while before that arrives. Which brings me to my big question:
How does everyone keep their work space organized? Mine is constantly in a shit state and I'm a tad ashamed lol. Not to mention there's a 500lbs pile of wbs chilling in my living room. So any storage tips on that would also be hella appreciated.

Fuck we had a major albino drought for years, it’s fucking awesome to see so many new ones popping up. I wonder if it’s a sign of genetic drift in the classic lines due to over selfing. However with so many new ones it would be cool if some people crossed them together to increase the heterozygosity while strengthening the albino traits.

A couple pins I’m going to clone.
I doubt the cross took on this one as it’s on the far edge of the plate and closer to melmac streaks but since I’ve had a hard time with melmac swabs it’s still welcome.

This is gremlin it’s a revert from ghost that I’m trying to isolate. Short fruit with wide 3.5” caps. The pin looks like it’s short to me.

It’s been a minute since I last grew TYC. I get some different shit with my TOC. Like this fat cluster surrounded by shorties.

It even throws some “sporeless”

Looks like you're doing pretty well already just need more shelves dude. I got these 5-tier ones (left) from Costco that'll hold 15 56 quart monos. Still need to phase out the narrow one on the right. They'll get all your shit off the floor.

Thanks for the advice! and a GT print a while back which is where about 25 of those quarts in that pic come from I wasn't sure if people were using anything other than shelves. In the past I'd just stack one mono on top of another lol

Wow! Psychedelic Utility Muffin Research Kitchen.
I'm envious.
I'm growing 3 shoe box tubs in a closet hidden from a roommate who's on the lease, I'm not, and he will probably kick me out if he catches me.
You're living large there. That is beautiful. Reflect on that. Be blessed, bitches. !!!!
