Leaving Cooked coir in cooler overnight
    #26965969 - 10/02/20 01:44 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Is it ok to leave coir in the cooler for a day or longer, once you pastuerize it with boiling water? It seems to stay fairly warm for quite some time, over 10 hours later it was still reading 125F.

I am doing 4 tubs worth of coir and verm in 1 run in a 60qt cooler so this is causing it to hold higher temps for a longer period of time. I was not quite sure if this was ok or if it was a risk for contam. Thoughts?

youre fine

people are starting to just hydrate coir with hot water and spawning to it right away. Its not really nutritious and isn't prone to contamination on its own.

remember this stuff is used for reptiles to piss and shit on for weeks and those tanks are not full of mold
