Hello Shroomers!
Can anyone assist with an id on this little fella?
I was interested at first because they do share something of a similarity with young P. Cubensis from images I've seen. The gill colour does look off though.
Found growing on top of a fallen tree ( maybe oak?) in deciduous forest in the South East of England following moderate rainfall
Cap is dome shaped with a flat top. The center of the cap is darker brown/orange fading to a light brown/orange at the edges. The cap is very smooth and quite dry. about 5-6cm across. The darkest area on the cap is a small circle right in the middle. The colours make it look a little like a nipple but there is no raised area there.
Gills creamy/v light brown, moderately spaced and not connected to the stem. They are inset somewhat from where the bottom of the cap is.
Stem is hollow and moderately firm, not spongy. Strongly curved. Bruising on the stem is dark brown. There is no ring on the stem. between 8-10cm.
Mushrooms were growing singly but mostly clumped.
The smell is pleasant and obvious when close. It's quite 'woody mushroom' but with a hint of something aromatic. I can't quite place it.
Spore print is purple

You Have Found A Hypholoma Sp.
Psilocybe Cubensis Does Not Grow From Wood, It Is A Coprophilous Sp, Meaning It Grows From The Dung Of Most Grazing Animals.
