Don't toss and hope for the best. Study food. What else is there? Take your time, prepare, then try it. You will fail, you will be mediocre, and you will make something incredible. Take notes, be a scientist, learn and love. Life is dessert, enjoy it.

Soy sauce, mirin, sake, ginger and garlic are all that's needed to make your own teriyaki sauce. You'll never buy bottled stuff again.

Kikkoman's been brewed and sold for over 300 years.
If its GOOD its GOOD.
It has an almost fine wine like aroma when tasted pure.

Man that sriracha sauce is probably the hottest hot sauce I have ever tasted! I'll have to give em another go but in a very very small amount. I used to have an entire t-shirt branded by sriracha sauce.

Sriracha is a great sauce for getting into hot sauce. Great flavor, and decent enough heat.

Like Christopera says, cock sauce Sriracha is an entry level serious hotsauce. It is nowhere near as hot as the super hot sauces, but any way you cut it, its a hot sauce that consists for 70% of fresh Jalapeño peppers. People hold Jalapeño eating contests so even though they are among the weaker peppers, it still beats the crap out of supermarket weaksauce thats 5-10% pepper and the rest sugar.
Once you break into sriracha, you start to get serious about hot sauce.
This is the one they have standing on dining tables in Asian restaurants, you can actually burn yourself with it but with responsible use most people can get their enjoyment of it.
When you get a tolerance you'll use it like ketchup

Asante, check out the yellow Sriracha if you haven't already. It has a spot more heat, but a totally different flavor profile. 2/2, great stuff!

Idk man I've been eating spicy foods and sauces since I was very young because of my Father. I've even tried a ghost pepper before! That's what my friend said at least.. We were in grade 7 and she brought a small baggie full of these small wrinkly peppers and me being a guy that naturally tries to impress I ate a full pepper in the cafeteria and my friend had one too. We were in the washroom for the next hour crying in pain because of how hot it was . This one grade 11 kid came in and saw us and he said something like "what were you two suckin' each others dicks or somethin?".. Sriracha sauce is second place to that pepper in my opinion.

If you don’t eat this stuff often you don’t build a tolerance. I eat spicy food nearly daily. Sriracha is like ketchup for me. I’m not bragging, I’m just saying that when you eat it out of blue it’s going to be hot as fuck. There’s no shame in that. Hopefully you can manage the spice and enjoy it. It’s never fun when it’s off the charts like your school experience. It’s a bad trip if you will.

Yeah tolerance definitely plays a huge roll in how spicy something is and since I have never eaten one of those peppers before it made me very lightheaded and almost cold feeling. You know those cartoons where stars spin around someones head when they get knocked out or something? It felt like that kinda it was really disorienting. My friend doesn't like Frank's Red Hot sauce but that's because he just isn't used to it like I am and it's like sriracha sauce ketchup for you but for me it's the Franks Red Hot sauce.

Franks is a great sauce too. It's awesome for cooking. I made some beef and egg breakfast burritos this morning where I marinated the beef in Franks. They were killer.

Sounds really good! I've never tried marinating with Franks but now that I have placed an order for a hot plate and cooking pot and pan on amazon I will be able to experiment with more recipes. I've always liked Franks Houtsauce on scrambled eggs or even on a nice rare steak to be dipped in

It's not tolerance, ability to eat spicier and spicier food if you eat it all the time is directly due to depletion of substance P in the mouth, which as a neurotransmitter, limits the ability of those neurons to transmit pain signals.

Maybe, but it must be more complex than that. I can go three weeks without spicy food, then eat it and be right back where I was tolerance wise three weeks ago. Now, if I eat spicy food daily, I can edge that tolerance up.

I need to finally get me a slow cooker. I love low and slow cooking shit in the oven already (like pork ribs), or simmering for a long time on the stovetop (like oxtail, stews, etc.), so it's only natural for me to get a slow cooker.
God I love waiting for a while when something is slow cooking, drinking some beer, and knowing in a few hours I'm going to be having something delectable, like some fall off the bone ribs or something.
