master slant fruited, best spot to transfer?

I've had this flammulina velutipes culture for a few years on slants in storage at 1-2C. I had stepped away from the hobby for a while so the last master had gone ~18 months or so in storage by the time I recently pulled it out to try to save it. I have a few other gourmet cultures of the same age. I've gotten live tissue going from all of them and though I am skeptical of their vitality I figured I'd try to rescue them if possible.
This one fruited while in storage so I'm left with the question of where the best spot to transfer would be in this case. Would you still try to pull from the leading edge at the top of the slant if possible? Or would you "clone" as I've experimented with below (lower portion of a stipe covered in pins)?
Related: If this culture is likely an isolate, would there even be a genetic difference between mycelial and fruitbody tissues?

I don't believe so. What you do need to worry about is if you get a spore in there, then that would be a different culture entirely. So maybe take from a part of the agar that couldn't have been hit with a spore, in case there were any? Although the culture SHOULD outrun the spore germinating, it's gonna be hard to tell for sure.

That's an interesting point I hadn't considered. I'm not sure but I don't think they sporulated. You can see the caps in the first two pictures. They are only 2-3mm probably didn't reach maturity? Spores are white so I dunno.
Assuming the genetics are the same, I'm left wondering if one or the other is closer to senescence or at least likely to be more vigorous. I might try to transfer some of the mycelial mat to see how it compares to the first transfer I made.

I don't think there's gonna be much difference but try both and see what you can see!
