Greetings from the Bay Area in California. This is my first post. I'm pretty new to shrooms. I had one trip about 20 years ago. I think I took too much and had a bad trip (my friend later said he gave me a really big dose). Even though there was some scary stuff the experience has stuck with me as something I would like to try again. Lower dose, better set and setting, etc. I've been reading a lot about the therapeutic benefits of mushrooms, and think they could help me. Seeing cool patterns would be awesome too.
I've struggled with depression for as long as I can remember. I've done talk therapy and am currently taking Prozac and Wellbutrin. They do help, but 2020 has been kicking my ass.
When I take shrooms again, is there anything I should be aware of when also taking Prozac and Wellbutrin? My earlier trip was prior to taking the medications.
I know mushrooms are illegal in CA and I read spores are illegal too. I am looking forward to the upcoming rainy season to put out all the fires and to try and find some wild magic mushrooms. I'm not far from Oakland and I've heard entheogens are now legal or at least decriminalized in Oakland.
Has anyone ordered spores in CA and had success? I've read that nobody has been arrested for just getting spores in the mail. This seems like the safest way to know what I'm getting if I just grow some, but I obviously don't want to get in trouble.
I'm glad to be here and hope to learn more.

I wish i could help you. I just wanted to be friendly and say that i'm old here and hope you find your answers. To my knowledge mushrooms and lsd are okay to depression meds but molly is a huge no. But please wait for someone smarter to explain it.

Visual manifestations can be a distraction from the real work that comes out of the experience. Especially if you are serious about dealing with depression.

Talk with your therapist or with whoever prescribed the SSRIs or NDRIs. They can't prescribe or even recommend mushrooms for you, but they can suggest useful materials for you to read so you can be informed. If they threaten you in any way when you tell them about your desire, get a different therapist or prescriber. Ideally, get a therapist who will accept your behavior and work with you.

Mushrooms contain psilocin and psilocybin, plus lesser amounts of other active compounds. Your body turns psilocybin into psilocin, which is your rocket fuel. Many medications bind to the same 5HT-2A receptors as psilocin does, and can block or blunt its effects. See if the prescriber is willing to discuss with you when in your dosage regimen you will be most receptive to psilocin. You might take a reduced dose or even skip on a mushroom day. If they won't help you, get a different prescriber.

I also live in the Bay Area (born in Oakland, actually!) I've received spores from Washington State, Germany and the mid-West. Most serious sellers won't ship to CA because it is a felony in the state to do so. Also, keep in mind that the USPS keeps images of every single mail item that goes to your mailbox. Puts a whole new meaning on "forever stamps." If you work at a place that requires drug testing or security clearances, consider in advance how you'll deal with that. State law doesn't do very much to protect you from an employment situation that demands your pee. Most drug tests are intended to detect cocaine, meth and opiates; they don't care so much about psychedelics.
In CA, possession of mushrooms or even spores is normally a misdemeanor punishable by $1k fine, typically no jail time. You'll probably need to hire a lawyer as well and that costs money. On the other hand if the cops think you are dealing, you'll get hit with a felony and that's a whole different story. I know a lot of people here who grow mushrooms and two people who conduct guided trips. I've never met anyone who was harassed in any way for growing or eating mushrooms.
There are support communities that meet frequently all over the Bay Area (by zoom now, no more meetings in parks) and you just have to be a little creative to think about how to connect with them. The local mycological societies go on foraging trips. I don't know if they will continue this winter, considering the pandemic. There are ayahuasca churches in Santa Cruz and in Oakland. Probably other places I'm not aware of. They might also be a resource for you.
Good luck, happy travels.
