Hi fellow shroomers I just pulled my first harvest out of one of my Shoeboxes today, 1qt colonized rye mixed with 1lbs of pasteurized manure in a 6qt sterilite, no casing layer on top wasn’t sure if I really needed it when I started the project but I’m kinda wishing I would have looking back.. My first flush wasn’t a canopy like I was hoping for but there was some nice clusters. Anyway after 1st harvest will I need to dunk or add water? Any tips are greatly appreciated this was after I pulled them.

First off congratulations. And all I cAn say from experience as you're not going to get a canopy on your first grow. Especially if you're using multi-spore. Canopies take usually a lot of agar work. Just mist it fan it and leave it alone. I've had crappy first flushes then amazing second flushes. Keep up the good work. By the way I don't dunk. So I'd say mist and fan.

Thank you very much I am pretty happy with the way this grow is going vs my mono tub back in 2018 and and mono back in 2014. This time I’m taking the time to gain as much knowledge as my brain will alow itself. And and that’s Awsome I was hoping that fanning and misting was all needed. Here are 2 of my tubs I just introduced to fruiting conditions after about 10 days. Will the delay in fae and light do it any good in the long run? Does it make a difference when you let it colonize first?

Absolutely no difference. I'm just like you there is alot of different stuff now these days. Colonizing you can introduce it to fruiting condition. 12 on 12 off. Mist as needed. I do actually still put a piece of plastic on top my sub to make a vapor locked in it has gave me some pritty great pin sets. the min you see pins coming up I would remove the plastic.

Just curious what kind of plastic would you recommend?

To be honest I use just cheap 6 mil clear plastic to lock in humidity. It has always gave me a great pin sets and then I remove when pin pop up and give them that serous fae boost.

I know this is an old post. I should start off by saying happy new year.. I would just like to know if I could put a piece of plastic on my cake after it has already been colonizing for 2 weeks without it, it’s finally fully colonized
