A few questions from an old school shroomer

So long story short I just finally moved and have started this amazing hobby up again. I have been doing the same things for the last 10 years. it's amazing how much this is all changed. So my questions are!
1. Are people really using no drill tubs /no mod? I threw away all my tubs when I moved and would really like to not punch a bunch of holes in tubs again.
2. are people really having that much success for just adding hot water to coir?
I have been doing the bucket tech with great success. you know boil water pour burn the hell out of your hand to check field capacity.
3. I have been seeing a lot of grows logs lately and it seems they have fluorescent tube lights hanging over every single tub. So I guess the question is does that help any? I'm still just rocking a single light bulb on a lamp 12 on 12 off pointing at my tubs from the other side of the room.if having closer lights means more yield then it's worth it to spend the extra and get all those lights. Just asking because I just seen a members program that look like an electronic dance festival.

1. Sure are! Welcome back btw! The unmodified tubs don't work as well for every person's environmental conditions, but plenty of people including myself find them perfectly adequate and convenient. You can make adjustments with the lid and via positioning. 2. Yup. No need to pasteurize coir. I use Viagrow from Home Depot (the big, dirty ass blocks)- for context- and have zero issues. Bucket tek isn't required, but buckets make a conveniently sized vessel for coir and at least warm water hydrates the coir better/more quickly than cold. I use hotish water to reduce wait time. Don't have hours to wait for coir to cool. 3. The light you are providing is perfectly adequate. More light does offer some small advantages, most of which are minimal/negligible. People have different opinions on this, but clean spawn, good substrate prep, and dialed in tubs are what really matters. I grow with indirect light from a south facing window...

Thank you for all these answers. It really is amazing how much things have changed. Now my last question is I have been preparing 5-quart spawn bags. I have been piecing for 3 and 1/2 hours with success is there anybody who PCs for less time? That is five quarts of spawn per a bag.I have been reading on it and it seems like I have heard of people doing it for two and a half hours. And some people do it for four. I run two five quart bags per cycle in my 25x.

Most of my cubes don’t seem to need much light, I just put them by a window and they do great with the occasional rare tub that leans toward the window.
Idk how much humidity comes into play with unmodded tubs but I’m in a very dry climate and shoeboxes and underbed tubs have been perfect. I’d recommend checking out shoeboxes unless you’re going for a ton of shrooms. You basically just mix a quart of spawn with some coir, then snap the lid on and wait til it’s harvest time.
For the coir I use the bucket with boiling water but if you’re in a hurry you can add 2/3 the water initially boiling so it expands fast and cooks a little bit, then like 20 mins later add the last third of the water cold so the whole thing cools off right away.

See I'm going to have the experiment with those no drill tubs at a north ga member. And I wouldn't say grow a ton of mushrooms but I keep about 20 to 25 tubs rotation 66 quart. Keeps me doing five to six tubs a week. That way I'm always having some fruiting. I only keep up to usually 3rd flush. It's a good simple rotation and it's not overbearing work. I keep it pretty simple with only having to inoculate five quart jars one week. With five spawn bags. Inoculate court jars with LC let them fully colonize.takes about a week for the whole jar to colonize. Then transfer to those five spawn bags. Spawn bags usually within a week to a week and a half are fully colonized. The results have been pretty consistent.

These are all unmodded. Shoeboxes and the bigger ones are “underbed” tubs.

No maintenance besides maybe misting once or twice. I haven’t tried the deeper walled tubs myself but there’s plenty of awesome grows posted with those too.

Just a heads up you can't stack the unmodded tubs cause you have to crack the lid for FAE.

It's no problem I have industrial shelving. Can fit about 40 monos in the 20×12 room was wondering if people has success in south states like mountains in Georgia. I heard it's only good up north.
