How was it? I watched about 30 minutes before I fell asleep. ( I had 2 tough sessions of physical therapy yesterday that kicked my ass pretty good) So who won, orange man or the older guy?
I mostly saw tRump refusing to stfu and the older guy trying to answer his questions and smiling to the camera.

Given that Trump is such an ultimate douche but got beat up by Sleepy Joe, I’d have to give Joe the win.

It was certainly cringe worthy at times. Trump rather often interjected when Joe was talking. Trump also did his usual say a lot of words but not actually convey anything coherent. All said and done, we are fucked.

I would say Biden did his best to act like an adult and a participant . Trump couldn’t follow one basic rule he agreed to which was shut the fuck up for two minutes . Trump behaved like a drunk heckler at a comedy show . It’s really hard to speak intelligently about an issue or lay out a vision for the future when your opponent does that . The biggest failure was that of the moderator, as he totally failed to enforce the most basic rule.
It was all just another embarrassment for the entire nation.
Basically the current president behaves like a gangster and has been getting away with it, for years, and a good portion of the public, is just fine with having their country lead by such a person. So really its all way beyond embarrassment. At this point the country is not only seriously dysfunctional, but becoming more chaotic as well. I expect things to get worse, no matter where we go from here. The roots of this self destruction of the USA go back for decades, and the momentum now seems surreal and unstoppable.

What a complete shitshow.. Out of control, smh for an hour and half.
The biggest issue was the moderation. He could not get the debate under control. I don't feel like I learned anything about their stances, it was constant interruption and pot shots, mostly from Trump. They should turn off mics when it isn't their turn to speak. It's messed up that I didn't hear half of Biden's responses. .
Trump is simply more forceful, aggressive and outspoken. Immaturity mixed with smooth-talking manipulation- Just about every answer he gave, he twisted the subject, went off topic, and found a way to make himself look good. So frustrating.
Couple things that weren't fair, imo- .Comparison to past presidencies- The environment and circumstances are not the same. .Spending that much time talking about family members? Totally inappropriate, has nothing to do with a presidential debate.
Biden Blunders.. He was great at the beginning, good at the end, had a few slurring moments, not being able to get the words out. Honestly, I think this will influence voters- Who wants a president that can't get through a speech? There were a few times that Biden had the opportunity to destroy Trump. Whether his mental state or professionalism impact this, not sure. But watching him really reinforced my belief that he is an empty puppet. There's no substance.
Did Trump ever tell the white supremacists to stand down?
Climate change. I am happy they added it to the topics, but I wish more time was spent on it. This is where Biden could have walked all over Trump, the moderator barely scratched the surface when it comes to the devastation the Trump Administration has had on our environment. This is another place where Trump completely diverted. Q: Do you believe in climate change? A: Cali wouldn't be on fire if they raked their leaves. The thing is, most of what is burning is federal land.. He kept bringing up the need for Environment MGMT, so let's go!
In conclusion, I believe what transpires with both covid and economic recovery, in the time between now and election will greatly impact voter's minds.

Trump has to act this way because thats truely all he has to fall back on. There is no substance to anything the man says.100s of thousands of acres of Cali. Is burning because they dont rake up all of the leaves and sticks that fall in the forest? Really dude really? Trump activley came out to supress and undermine encourageing people to vote Biden is only encourageing people to get out there. Its insane Trump lterally up there saying if anyone but him wins the election has to be rigged and is basically calling for violent confrontaion if it doesnt go his way. This man wants blood spilled in the fucking streets and is suposedly the law and order candidate when hes in all actuality a fucking chaos junkie.

They aren’t going to say shit . What can you say after claiming Biden talks like a moron for a year and then seeing your boy get crushed by him . There’s nothing to say. All they have now is hoping Trump manages to stay in power by suppressing the vote and contesting the election.

Raw faith and anger. They often go hand in hand.
In the minds of his supporters, he will keep America great, and the radical liberal communist socialists will do everything to try to ruin the country to make him look bad.

I have no TV now. Saw some of the "debate" on a computer. Anybody here have a TV and ever watch some of the Jerry Springer show, Fox news, or a few minutes of "professional" wrestling?
This country loves phony, pointless, but nasty vicious fights. Much of the populace is on the wrong side of the bell curve, in a number of important ways. Last night was just another example, of the media circus, providing the masses, with a modern version of Roman Gladiators, with nasty emotion to distract them, from their lack of any real choices,as currently blood is out of favor, in this venue.

Biden got some good ones in, and Trump as usual talked a lot, but didn’t say much. That doesn’t mean that the Trumpsters won’t lap it up any less than normal. I’m sure they are pleased as pudding with the debate.
I give Biden the win, he actually managed to make some decent points, and despite all of Trump’s attempts to derail him he managed to keep it on track.
I do not however know what a second or third debate will be about. Seems like it’s a waste.

Thats for sure.
Trump's response to why he cancelled "Raical Sensitivity Training" was pretty scary and shows how racist he really is. Biden definitely has a better response to the racial subject.

No response. Trump won that one, I will give him that one win.
Trump's "Forest Cities" was funny as fuck. https://www.dailydot.com/debug/trump-forest-cities-memes-star-wars-memes/
Quote:
“In Europe, they live, they have forest cities, they’re called forest cities. They maintain their forest, they manage their forest. I was with the head of a major country, it’s a forest city. He said, ‘sir, we have trees that are far more—they ignite much easier than California’… I spoke with the governor about it, I’m getting along very well with the governor. I said at some point, you can’t every year have hundreds of thousands of acres of land just burnt to the ground. That’s burning down because of a lack of management.”

I really thought Biden saying trump will be the first president to leave office with fewer jobs than when he took office would get more of a response. It’s a such a devastating fact for a guy who called himself the “the jobs President.” Trump just stared blankly.

Biden never called black peoples predators. He called criminals predators. Trumps is a racist piece of shit for equating criminals with black people.
Every day you post and support absolutely shameful content.

I said at some point, you can’t every year have hundreds of thousands of acres of land just burnt to the ground. That’s burning down because of a lack of management.”
What I find funny as fuck is that you just quoted exactly what Trump meant.

Which is the same as saying they don't have the problems that we have because they are better at doing their job than he is. You do realize that the U.S. Forest Service is part of the Executive Branch which has Donald J. Trump as its leader, right?

Forest cities.
You do know almost all of the forests that burn in the US are owned by the federal government, which he has run for the past four years

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I expected worse.
I have no idea what either candidate have in mind for the future. The moderator didn't ask what they were planning to do if elected. He only talked about the hot topic news subject such as the Supreme Court and the wildfires...
It was a bad debate all around.

Yes, Hillary Clinton was actually the one who used the term "Super Predators" 30 years ago.
Interesting to note, though: Clinton used that term in the context of defending the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which was co-written by both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and signed into action by Bill Clinton.
What was the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, you might ask? Well, it did a number of things:
- Banned assault weapons at the federal level
- Added 60 new crimes to the list of crimes punishable by death, including terrorism and drive-by-shootings
- Overturned a section of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which previously allowed prison inmates to receive a Pell grant for college. After Biden/Clinton's Bill, no grants were awarded to inmates for higher education.
- Allocated $1.6 billion to law enforcement for the purpose of investigating violent crimes against women (primarily domestic violence and sexual assault)
- Prior to the bill, DMV's published information on license-holders that disclosed whether or not they had received abortions, which led to Pro-lifers harassing them. The 1994 bill required DMV's to keep this information private.
- Required the state to track the residence of sex offenders for ten years after an offense.
- Allocated $30 billion to a police recruitment program, which led to the hiring of over 100,000 additional police officers nationwide
- Not all prisons require inmates to serve their full sentences at conviction (being let go early for good behavior or whatnot). The 1994 bill financially rewarded all prisons which required all inmates to serve 85% or more of their sentences at conviction.
- More, including allocation of tax money to build new prisons and manual drug tests for those serving federal supervised release time.
This bill was an extremely significant change in US policy, which opened up a whole new bipartisan debate on how to deal with crime. It was also a critical factor that led to a problem we weren't facing prior to the nineties: mass incarceration (a problem which primarily affects black Americans).
My takeaway from all of this information is the following: No, Joe Biden never referred to black Americans as "Super Predators." That was Hillary Clinton, and she didn't explicitly say that these "Super Predators" were black. It's quite clear that Trump mentioned this during the debate to try to characterize Joe Biden as an overt racist, and he's just not. However, all of that said, Biden was responsible for drafting a crime bill which led to a serious problem that disproportionately affects black Americans. Biden may not be an overt racist, but due to his political history, I'd hesitate to call him a hero for black Americans to look up to.
It really sucks that neither of these candidates are really allies for black Americans.

Or grasping at straws..
Again, I just don't think it is fair to be comparing today to 30 years ago. Everything was different, none of the climate remains. Can you imagine the field day with Trump, 30 years from now will have?!
Fvking Trump looking dead into the camera when Biden Blundered, I could of punched through the screen and smacked him.
I shared with a Trump supporter how it was unfair, I didn't get to hear much of what Biden was proposing due to Trump interruptions. His response was, 'But he had a point when he did.'
Perhaps I am alone in thinking, nothing of what Trump interrupted with should be seen as debate material. He devised his own answers to unknown his-choice drivel posing as a question. But the responses were not on topic, and were unrelated to the question posed. So I don't think what he interjected with should be given any regard, kind of like when a 3 yr old throws a tantrum.
What a goon.

If you're saying he's more racist now than he was then, I guess that's a possibility.

I'm not saying he's racist or not racist. I'm saying that there's no evidence that he ever called black people predators.

Ok i did some quick research, this is what I found: https://heavy.com/news/did-joe-biden-really-call-black-people-super-predators/
In the article there is a video from 1996 of Hillary Clinton saying the term "Super Predator". Is that the first time it was mentioned? Is that where Trump thinks Biden said "Super Predator"? Did Trump misremember the past?

Why would an experienced politician make a blatantly racist comment. His words were calculated, speech written well in advance, and the statement can only be interpreted one way. I can see the angle MAGA hats are pushing for -again-, and it's a dead end. So might as well move on now.
Here you are LC- https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4848645/user-clip-biden-predators-warrant-exceptionally-tough-treatment
Taken from this article clearing up the same- https://heavy.com/news/did-joe-biden-really-call-black-people-super-predators/
'Joseph' Biden used the term 'predators.' It was Hilary that said 'super predators.'

A lot of people don't look at context.
The context of the 1994 crime bill, was that republicans were hammering Bill Clinton on crime, and it was definitely racially coded. The entire purpose of the 1994 crime bill was an appeasement tactic to defuse republican attack lines into Bill Clinton's administration, which at that point was pretty left.
It was a bit of a deal with the devil. Unfortunately for Clinton, Gingrich was making his career as a "no compromise" republican at this time, laying the groundwork for the current republican party. Clinton was hoping for the 1980s republicans that could still be reasoned with. I don't think he expected Gingrich to be taken seriously, nor for Gingrich-style politics to take over the party. In retrospect, this was a major miscalculation, because Gingrich started the idea of a federalist society type organization that would identify young extremists and mold them into republican senators. The modern republican party is the result.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Edit: this was remarkably similar to Obama and the Tea Party. Democrats get two useful years in power, before the republican propaganda machine takes effect. Same thing will happen with Biden. I hope he's ready for it.

Unfortunately, you are not wrong.
Democrats need to forget their idealistic notions of compromise in government. Republicans are at this point an extremist group that follows their ideology with religious fervor. You cannot compromise with a fanatic on a crusade, the fanatic thinks God is on his side and compromise would only piss off God. You don't give the fanatic what he wants, because he'll filibuster his own bill. A fanatic will reject what he asked for if it comes from the wrong person.
Democrats need to take the House, Senate, and White House, get rid of the filibuster, and start passing bills with a simple party line majority. If republicans get uppity and complain, ship a pallet of Kleenexes to their office and tell them to deal with it.
Then democrats need to start passing laws that support voting, and dismantle the Electoral College. If SCOTUS gets uppity, pack the court until it's 9-6 Democrat partisans. Pass DC and PR statehood, and offer it to American Samoa.
You can't compromise with fanatics. You chain them up and forget about them.

Yes, Repubes broadcast thier "religion ",; there is a cunt hair difference between the two parties, though. Kamala quotes scripture and brings up god in alot of her diatribes.

Religion isn't the problem. Well, it's a problem, but it is not the main problem, nor is it particularly high on the priority list.
The problem is applying religion and religious conviction to governance, which fundamentally operates on compromise. Compromise which is impossible to achieve when you are dealing with fanatics. And yeah, this started with Reagan's unholy alliance with Evangelicals, but what began as a political marriage of convenience became the republican party we see today.
This is largely to blame on Gingrich, however, because he began the application of the "no compromise with democrats, ever" approach. The end result of that approach is what we see now: Republicans frothing at the mouth over ACA, which is fundamentally the healthcare plan they wanted to pass. But because a democrat did it, they want it gone. That's why they can't come up with an alternative. The much more obvious example was Mitch McConnell filibustering his own proposal. The point wasn't the governance aspect of passing a proposal, the point was scoring political points and putting together some nice soundbites. Then when people were in favor of his proposal, he realized that "fuck, my entire shtick is that the government doesn't work", so he killed his own proposal.

https://original.antiwar.com/mbenjamin/2020/07/01/trumps-record-on-foreign-policy-lost-wars-new-conflicts-and-broken-promises/
Trump famously summed up his policy as "bomb the shit out of the Islamic State". "When you got these terrorists, you got take out their families".
As far as fake news goes, Trump caused more of it than MSNBC and Fox combined.

Biden is doing just fine though.

The biggest problem these debates present for trump is that Biden doesn’t look like he has dementia.

I have got to say, Biden actually did well here, a lot better than I would have expected.

I would agree with that. He does trip up on some thoughts and words and misstates some things but tends to get there in the end.

Yeah, Biden comes across as an old man, but he doesn't come across as having dementia.
Trump wrote a lot of checks that he can't cash as far as Biden's character, the economy, COVID, and it doesn't look good on him. I doubt it will change his supporters minds though.

Well, it's fair to say that Trump won that one. He was very composed.
