Delivery driver jobs

I want to pick up a second job and am pretty sold on delivery service.
I've heard so many different opinions on this and because of that, I'm 50/50. On the fence. Penis pussy. Tits butts.
Has anyone worked for any of these companies? Uber, door dash, yattamasquach?
What are your pros and cons? What would you suggest? And advice?

I've thought about doing Uber Eats on the side for some extra cash on top of my regular job.
I worked a few years as a courier though. Picking up stuff for banks (not money). 98% of my day was in the car.
The greatest thing about it is you're pretty much your own boss as long as you're doing the job without any mishaps. Nobody looking over your shoulder. Also with Uber Eats for example, you make your own hours and you can get paid daily if you want.
Downside is you're driving your own car and doing it for a while can add wear and tear to your car.

uber and such really came up with a hell of a business plan an entire fleet of vehicles and drivers and they don't have to pay insurance, or maintenance, or nothing

Crazy isn't it?
Coming up with the hypothetical idea is one thing, but putting it into action and making it a reality is quite another.
And now Uber is currently valued at 62 billion dollars...

When you do the math with gas, wear n tear, ect. Driving for uber will lose you money over time. Your ride is for you and your transportation needs. If you are working/driving for someone else they should be paying for it. Ive heard good things about working for USP though.

If you lose money delivering you're doing it wrong. For 2020 up until this week, where I'm willfully starting a 3 day a week schedule down from 5, I was making $1025-$1350 tax free per week with my best being in the $1600s(I worked 6 days that one). Indy ov course but I guess scab drivers can make decent money too, perhaps even more if some ov them are to be believed, although they'll be paying a lot in taxes. Yeah the cars break but you should be able to cover that and make an adequate income. Any decent delivery driver should have at least 2 cars and be comfortable legally carrying a gun on the job, even the part time scabbers.
To be honest I should'nt be too hard on doordashers and uberers as I'd hypocritically do it for the open schedule if I could right now(cant until next year due to a '14 dui). I'd lose the pride in being a real delivery driver, but the open scheduling is very appealing.

There was only one where I began to pull and used my delivery bag to obscure my draw. It was a delivery to what looked to be an abandoned house. Nobody answered the door but the guy came running from around the side. I had heard him well in advance as there was snow on the ground. Thankfully, he did not have a weapon out and actually paid for the food. As his behavior was so unusual, he may well have been ready to rob and was scoping out my reaction, or he could have just been an IC(idiot customer in pizza talk). Not sure. One has to realize though that delivery driver robberies are very common and often fatal. I have'nt checked for info lately, but before the uber era food delivery drivers had the 3rd highest murder victim rate as a profession, behind cops and taxi drivers. A driver should have a legal weapon on hir IMO, even doordash/uber as carjacking and robbery is still at potential.

UPS, not the post office, but Ups will hire you for seasonal work if you have a somewhat dependable vehicle that can fit a decent amount of packages in it. I think it starts out at $21 an hour plus mileage. It's a good side gig until after the Christmas rush.
