Active Conocybe Sp. (Pholiotina Cyanopus) 3

Vancouver Island, BC
Found on a grassy path, in a grassy area right next to the edge of the forest. I'm suspecting them to be Conocybe Cyanopus or Conocybe Smithii.

Habitat: grassy area at the edge of the forest

Gills: orangish brown gills
Stem: white, brittle, blue bruising at the base
Cap: translucent striated margin, hygrophanous cap
Spore print color: taking print.
Bruising: bruising blue, heavily bruising on some specimens
Other information: different from the smell of Psilocybe mushroom, but is very pleasant.

It's so crazy to see pics of bluing Conocybes after seeing regular dunce caps in so many atl lawns. Amazing find. I think cyanopus and smithii are now in Pholiotina, but could be wrong.

Cyanopus. Due to the lack of the “distinct pronounced umbo” of smithii, according to the SVIMS key.

Definitely an active Pholiotina species. Very cool finds!
By the way, thanks OP for your nice photo collection of P. pelliculosa on MO. I've been trying to find the species here in Finland, since it was found in Norway last year. Gives some hope.

Pholiotina cyanopus is hallucinogenic, containing psilocin, psilocybin, baeocystin, norbaeocystin and aeruginascin.[3] Paul Stamets stated in 1996 that fruit bodies of P. cyanopus have been found to contain anywhere from 0.33–1.01% (of dry weight) psilocybin, 0–0.007% psilocin, and 0.12–0.20% baeocystin.[6] A more recent study found a collection of P. cyanopus from Poland to contain 0.90±0.08% psilocybin, 0.17±0.01% psilocin, 0.16±0.01% baeocystin, 0.053±0.004% norbaeocystin and 0.011±0.0007% aeruginascin.[3] Most mycologists recommend against eating this mushroom because it is easy to mistake for deadly poisonous species e.g. pholiotina rugosa, cortinarius gentilis, galerina marginata or galerina padulosa
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pholiotina_cyanopus
Dosage: 40-50 small specimens, 1/3 of a fresh ounce and/or 1 dried gram.
Other Notes: Also described as Conocybe cyanopus. A taxonomical choice has been chosen here to include this species and Ph. smithii in Pholiotina instead of Conocybe. The micro features on the pileus is what is called a hymenoderm pileipellis, which has been used to separate other species from the genus Conocybe to Pholiotina. Pholiotina cyanopus can be a difficult species to identify for begginers as it can get confused with other LBM's quite easily. Potently active, although petite in size. Beug and Bigwood (1982b) found 0.93 psilocybin but no psilocin. Christiansen et al. (1984) reported ranges of 0.33-0.55 psilocybin and 0.004-0.007 psilocin. Gartz (1992) found 0.78-1.01silocybin, no psilocin, and 0.12-0.20 baeocystin. This species is probably widely distributed across the temperate regions of the world but goes unnoticed because of its minute stature.

According to anecdotal "evidence" (i.e. someone here at Shroomery who ate them, I can't recall who, when or where) they are potent somewhere in the same region as liberty caps. So the dosage suggested (1 gram) seems appropriate.

I have tried them like five times between 30 to 100+ specimen dosages. I don't have a scale at the moment, but they are quite potent. Around 60 gave me pretty decent ride. I have 300-350 collected this year and can't wait for the right moment.
