Oysters
    #26959138 - 09/28/20 05:09 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Growing directly out of a dying maple in south central WI.

Pretty positive they are oysters just looking for confirmation as I wish to consume them.

I agree, they look like Pleurotus ostreatus. Enjoy!

Nice!!!! Are there any other good ways to cook them besides sautéing them?

I usually just sauté them and add them to dishes. You can put them in almost anything sautéd. I don’t know if you called it sautéed or fried but I cook them on high heat with garlic salt, pepper, cayenne and a fuck load of butter.

I like to use them alot in homemade tomato sauces, the umami gives it a fuller flavor.  They’re also great in Ramen and other soups.  You can powder them, if you dry some out, and use it as a breadcrumb substitute when frying.  My favorite would be simple; in a skillet over a campfire with butter and garlic scapes 🤤 They also make a tasty jerky..  Pretty versatile

Awesome, thank you for both of your methods. Definitely going to keep sautéing them in butter and garlic, but will add them to some ramen or tomato sauce.
