While I think that the small shrooms you obtain do not stem from too high CO2 levels, but more likely genetics or waterlogged substrate, now that at least two people in this thread seem to have a CO2 meter I'd be really interested in seeing a few myths debunked. E.g. when does CO2 production start and with what intensity, already during colonization or only fruiting phase? What is the CO2 ppm for a standard successful monotub grow compared to a tub with holes? What is the max CO2 ppm before cubes develop signs of low FAE like elongated stems?
Either way, 800pm CO2 for cubes sounds very strange to me. As the average household's CO2 concentration is 500-1000ppm already. Blue oysters and Lion's mane are known to require a shitload of FAE, and the recommended CO2 concentration is 600-1000pm*, so indeed you need to have constant FAE. Enokitake on the other hand are grown in a CO2 rich environment of 3000-5000pm* using bottles with "collars", but which are open at the top. Now on the contrary cubes are known to do well in unmodified tubs by relying on convection, which I think should be at least in the same range as Enokitake, i.e. 3000-5000ppm. There seems to be no established suitable range, "The mushroom cultivator" just specifies <5000ppm, which might be in the right ballpark.

I used to believe that psychedelics would save humans. This forum shows me many of you are beyond repair.
I’m beyond repair because I think a CO2 meter is completely unnecessary to grow pounds and pounds of mushrooms? Okay.

Manuals? You mean Stamets old ass books? Oss and Oeric perhaps? I would worry less about what some gadget or outdated ass book is telling me and instead look to my fruits themselves to see what they need. The mushrooms themselves will let you know if; there is too much CO2, the temp is too hot or too cold, if there isn’t enough water, or too much, etc. I try to not preach at people to blindly follow some dogma and instead teach them to think for themselves.
I guess I am beyond repair
