I'm rooting for you bro, go big or go home is what I say.
The plastic is because I am working over carpet which holds contamination exceptionally well its also easy to clean up.

There you go! this is my main one I found it on craigslist for $130. Its a bit old and rickety. It seems as if it was made in the early 70's. I have 3 other smaller, more modern ones too.
you will need way more drying capacity!
Hopefully by staggering out my harvest days I will be ok. If worst comes to worst I can freeze or refrigerate my harvest.

I bought a bunch of black plastic bags to use as liners, each black trash bag works for 2 liners. The problem with using clear plastic for liners is side pins. you could cut that plastic on your floor up into liners and save a huge amount of time that will be spent washing tubs. I've done it both ways and I will never not use liners anymore. After spending many hours in my shower with 50+ tubs to wash flooding the floor and all that. It was better than kneeling down next to the bathtub or trying to wash them in a sink. I would come out feeling like how id imagine a substrate would feel being dunked and forgotten about till 2 days later.
Using liners I just wipe the tub out with an iso soaked paper towel and done. Turns half a day into half an hour, for me atleast. Maybe not half a day but you get the idea.
Also like some people already said you'll likely want shelves. IME tubs get really hot when too close together. Ive had colonizing tubs be in the 90s when the room is well under 80. same goes for spawn but I use jars so bags may be different I don't know. Beginning of summer I lost a couple big batches of oats to bacteria before I realized I had to have more space between jars on shelves they get so fucking hot. Walmart has 5 level metal ones that are sturdy as fuck for like 50 bucks
I look forward to seeing where this goes, best of luck to ya
I boughtThe Large black trash bags which I will cut. Each bag should work for two tubs. Using clear plastic as a liner will result in side pins.

As long as you have good surface conditions, that's not true. Clear liners work fine

You can't freeze fresh mush. You can refrigerate for a couple days but that won't save you. Trust me, you need more dehydration space. That is, of course, if you plan on succeeding with most of your tubs.

I have never had all of my tubs succeed, however I have also never had a flow hood to work with, an air filter cleaning all the air in the house, or a room designated solely to growing mushrooms. my other grows have been in dusty, dirty poorly lit common shared spaces in my college years. I suspect this grow will be different. If I find that I am falling behind, that would be a best case scenario. I will just refrigerate the mushies and take to amazon. If that happens I'd be in the money with the grow. In other words, I would be taking a loss if i didn't order a few more dehydrators on amazon.

get a one of the 160 liter ones from cabellas or weston. Or build your own with a space heater and a fan.

I have just begun mounting the lights in my grow room, they are secured to the wall using command strips. The power strip that they are all attached to will be connected to a timer which will be on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours per day. Some people have mentioned getting tier 5 shelving. I would like to however, to me this will feel like a logistical nightmare, the shelves have to fit tightly in the room and have spaces that are just right for the bins. I cannot bring the bins to the store with me to see if they fit. for now, I am unsure how to approach the idea of shelving.

IMO, buying 10 of these would be more cost efficient than buying a big Cabella. https://www.amazon.com/Presto-06300-Dehydro-Electric-Dehydrator/dp/B008H2OELY/ref=zg_bs_1090752_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2V98685G3AG8WCT1MW8X

Do you have 10 separate circuits to run them? I imagine a lot of tripped breakers and/or a huge power bill.
The real questions: Do you know how to make clean spawn? What's up with all those bags of grain piled in the tubs? Fresh air? Your carpet is going to mold under that plastic if you grow for more than a month or two.

Yeah be careful with that bill. A big power bill is a good way to bring attention to yourself, especially if it's a lil apartment.

I believe you are wrong. I've not personally tried running a shitload of shitty little dehydros but it seems to me like it'll be a pain in the royal ass and a lot more work. Feel free to try though, obviously.
On the shelving, There's no need to take the tubs to the store with you. 1 That's why god invented tape measures. 2 Most shelves have adjustable shelve spacing. 3 You can stack tubs five high just fine but misting and checking on things gets to be quite a job. Shelving helps alleviate the work load.

Just browsing through here. If you haven’t grown since dusty college apartment days you may want to start a little smaller so you’re not mold farming. Just a suggestion as a flowhood doesn’t guarantee anything

I didn't catch that part. I would've definitely gotten my feet wet again first before stepping up

You will definitely want some BTI Skeeter Dunks on hand in case of fungus gnats. Those bastards can actually cause healthy tubs to contam, and they'll be attracted to your grow.

Or you could do this mod to a couple of those "shitty little prestos" and you'll be drying pounds no problem.

How much smell is drying all that going to cause? Your neighbors might not appreciate it very much.
Have you thought through how to get all those spent substrates out of the building without people thinking you're getting rid of body parts?

Price out the modular wire shelving from home depot or lowes. It is the most efficient use of shelving in my opinion.

The big dehydrator from cabellas is worth it or better yet build your own badass cabinet with a heater and fan

Whether truly necessary or not, I give it a good 24 hours just to be safe when full. Also, I flip it half way through to give each end of the bucket a chance closer to the heat etc.
I honestly have never weighed batches from the dehydrator as a single unit. I usually had multiple varieties going at the same time so when they came out of the dehydrator each variety got thrown into the batch of whatever I have dried already of that variety to be weighed at the end by total amount of each variety.
You can eyeball it and get an idea from the pictures. It can make those little table tops handle lot of mush in a pinch if you don't have the money or the wherewithal to either buy a big one or build it. I did pounds and pounds this way.
I will be moving on to bigger and better things this next run though.
