maggot like worms in my grain

I always had some bugs in my grain from the place I get them from. This time I dumped the grain in a 50g bucket for storage. When I opened the bucket like an hour later the sides had a good amount of those worm things along with some on the lid and some hanging from a silk/web.
I looked on the surface of the grain with a flashlight and saw a good amount of movement.
I read the tek bod has about putting Diatomaceous earth in with your grain. the post looked like it was mostly to make bugs not come in later. but will this kill the bugs? I really just hate the things a few years ago I had a trash bag left outside my door overflow with fly larva and it rained and they all crawled into my house. I had like 500 larva all over my entryway floor I had to clean up for hours. the things are nasty and make my skin crawl.
It is worth it or do I just toss it and get more?

Seeing as you dislike them so much, just throw it out.
Next time you buy grain, use it as fast as possible so there's no time for any bugs to get in.

I would just let it fruit outside if you can.

Let me interject my experience here in a relevant thread...
A while back I got a bag of wheat and it had a lot of weevils in it. I dumped the 50# bag into separate 5gal buckets and put them in my deep freezer. Left them in there for 30 days. All appeared dead after the freeze and I even allowed 2 weeks at room temp for them to recover before I started using it.
They never did bounce back at all either.

They likely came with the bugs.

I don't see why you couldn't just prep the grains like normal and PC. I've done it with shit tons of weevils and it turned out normal.
D.E. is tiny silica(?) crystals, if dry D.E. makes contact with the soft part of a bug's body it'll slice them like a knife.

I think it came like that, It was in the plastic sealed bag from the feed store. I only had it about a week. ive had other grain sit much longer in that bag like 2 months and I didnt see any bugs that time. Im thinking it was just a buggy batch? idk where else they would have come from.

Right I probably can there are just so many I am not really sure if its a ton or just some. Its been sitting over night in the bucket and im going to look soon to see how many came to the surface. if its too many I may need to find a new place to get grain. I never had a batch this bad lol

Don't think I've dealt with the same bug you have but I had mad weevils in my Home Depot WBS recently and it hasn't been a problem. You can use it normally, might just want to be careful about not letting them escape from the bag lol. Don't want an infestation on your hands. I'm careful to not spill any of the seed and I tape the bag shut as soon as I get the amount of seed I need. One of those airtight pet food things could probably work real nice too.
