Beautiful ovoids! I'm a bit jealous

Been a bit, but that's due to working 12-14 hour days for past few weeks. Will be in my old hunting grounds around Thanksgiving and hunting with Earthquake Opossum for a day.
Till then, some pins, and custom snowmobile deck I'm building. Happy hunting everyone, and thank you for all of your messages and support.

Figured I’d drop this magnificent wild find in this humble and chillin thread. By far the biggest mushroom I have ever found in my life. Hope y’all enjoy this monster sparassis. Such a blessing to find this edible I’m still in awe.

I missed this post when it was 1st made, beautiful picture, hope you have a great spring hunt, looking forward to seeing what you find. Are you using your cell phone for pictures? I have a galaxy s10 that takes great photos and I don't have to carry a bunch of gear.

Thanks mate! Honestly am still mind blown at the sheer size and freshness it still held. Ended up weighing out just above 25 pounds after cleaning off the inedible pieces and the butt of it. I threw a bunch of the base of the mushroom wrapped in cardboard and into a cardboard box to hopefully begin colonizing. Once I see some growth I’ll move some suitable wood chips layers mixed in with the substrate. Really would be a treat to cultivate this species at home, although I know they grow much smaller than their wild brethren whom host on massive root systems of certain trees.

Found some beautiful candy caps today, this season has been a true blessing honestly. Y’all have any suggestions for using them in a recipe? After further research I know slow drying is the best but I had already thrown them into the dehydrator for a couple hours. I figure I’ll worry about experimenting with slow drying the next time I find some. The maple smell is amazing though 🤙🙏
