Blue Oyster Question

So I recently bought four blue oyster syringes from what now seems like an unreliable source. I put two full syringes into two mycobags mixed about 1:1 coir/verm, but it has now been about a month and there still no growth on either bag. I also split two syringes over several agar plates and have no growth and just contamination. My question is: am I doing something wrong or did I just get bad syringes and if it is bad syringes could someone recommend a reliable vendor for oysters.

A full syringe into a mycobag is a huge waste, 1ml or less is really all you need, oysters grow so fast just shake the grains and it'll colonize just as quick with 1ml.
Also, why are you growing oysters on coir? They grow on wood, you should use hardwood fuel pellets if you can get them.
But yeah, it sounds like you probably got bad syringes. Sporeworks has good cultures for pretty cheap.

Sounds like bad syringes. Blue oyster has been the fastest Oyster Ive ever grown. Jars fully colonized in a week and bags fully colonized in two weeks. Hardwood fuel pellets and soy hulls is what you want.. coir isnt going to help at all, not sure why you didnt see any growth on plates though.. is your agar home made bc even bad syringes would show SOMETHING on a proper nutrient solution. Root Mushroom Farm on Amazon has awesome Oyster Syringes too, but Sporeworks is excellent quality as well.

Have to disagree with Root Farm! I placed 2 separate orders with them (pink&golds, lion's&kings). 3/4 syringes were heavily bacterial! I finally cleaned up the golds on Agar and am just seeing my first fruits months later! Mind you, their customer service is great, like i told them, I'll leave the benefit of doubt that going across country back in those high 95+days may have been the cause of contamination, doesn't seem likely with pinks and gold. I'll give them another chance in the future because of their customer service. But 3/4 are not greet odds...Especially when i only ever tried 3 of the cultures...now that i think about it,that king culture is taking up room in my fridge!
I have no reports as far as results yet, just put the lion's mane and black poplar to grain, but i just found the mycelium emporium, couldn't pass up that monthly grab bag deal!! And have heard nothing but great things!

Fair enough, I have not. Seeing both sides of that coin, I shared my experience so the op can see the risk with less reputable dealers...such as the ones found on Amazon!
There's a reason this site has trusted vendors. I'm sure nearly everyone on here has tried other suppliers! Therefore as a community, isn't it our responsibility to report back when necessary, to help guide those of us with issues rather than discourage those with failures/misfortune? I'm not saying you're putting either out there, I am however saying that i assumed your bias with Root Farm from your first post, I was simply informing the op in a roundabout/polite way that if they're already having issues with their syringes, maybe RF isn't the most reliable vendor to find a replacement.

I did! But,in fairness I got on the tablet in an already tense state of mind, soo maybe a touch of projection on my end!? Lol
Maybe I was just unlucky those two orders as well...at the very least they were very responsive and quick to refund! For that exact reason I'll try them again ...any recommendations?
Thank you for your patience and positive affirmation!
