My Bikes
    #26957255 - 09/27/20 10:21 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Here are my current bikes. I've had many over the years, but these are the ones that haven't been stolen yet.

This is my cruiser. It's a cheapo, and the frame is nearly solid steel. Total weight is around 47 lbs.  I've made a few upgrades. The tires are Schwalbe Fat Franks. They work great. I haven't had a flat yet. I have flat pedals. I can ride barefoot or in flip flops if I want. My rear hub is a Shimano single speed coaster brake. I had a Sturmy 3spd, but I rode it till it fell apart. The front & rear cogs of the drive train were geared to my 3spd, yet they still work well. We have some hills around here and I don't like to stand to pedal unless I'm trying to look cool. Gull wing handlebars w/ foam grip handles, and a gel over sized seat. It rides great, but it is really heavy. Super comfortable.

This is my road bike. It's my second road bike. Both have been entry level so far. I haven't done too much to it, and it weighs in at a little over 20 lbs. Light by my standards. The tires are 700x26c @ around 100psi, so I can really only ride it on the bike trail. Again, I went with the gel saddle. Sometimes I like to ride in basketball shorts or whatever is clean. I like the aero bars. They & the handle bars are wrapped with SRAM cork tape. Yet, I still wear riding gloves. I'm still getting used to the clip less pedals, and they are a nice improvement over my last bike.

I picked up this frame a few years back to build into a fixed gear bike. The frame is light & strong. The rear dropouts are perfect, but I may still try a half link chain. I'll definitely either go flat bar or bullhorn for the handlebars.

Had this steel hybrid geared bike for about 15 years. It's gone from black, to silver, to blue and now back to black again. Fitted new touring wheels and 28mm tyres with drop bars. It's been single speed for a while now. Was going to do some light touring this summer but things happen...

Picked up this fixie langster recently, it had bullhorn bars. It's had a badly needed service and now has compact flared dropbars. It takes a while to get used to riding fixie, muscle memory and more focus needed!

I also want to show my portable tools that I can carry on the trail. I have many bike tools, but these fit well in a bike bag or jersey.

I use a medium size saddle bag, and it has a ton of room. The tube is for my road bike, but sometimes I'll use the bag on my cruiser for longer rides. I have two pumps. A CO2 injector w/ extra cartridges, and a mini pump to use in a pinch. The big patch is a tire boot in case the tire gets a hole. I also have two types of tire patches for holes in the tubes. I pack the tire levers to get the tire on & off the rim. The plastic bag has extra chain links, and I carry a small link remover. I put the spoke tool in the bag just in case. I carry a Letherman, bike multi tool, mini torque wrench, and a small flat head screwdriver. I can adjust my derailleurs quickly with the small screwdriver.

Biking has been a hobby of mine for a while. My first century ride took over 8 hours. Please feel free to post any pictures of your bikes.

Thanks for sharing. I got my first road bike around 5 years ago, and I remember having to get used to dropbars. It took a little while for me to feel comfortable with them, but now it is second nature. I'll add a brake to the frame I have, and start with a flip flop rear hub. A fixed gear bike is something that I've always wanted to build, and I think it will be a unique riding experience.

'94 Giant frame that I bought mowing lawns when I was 14.  Handle bars and fork replaced with carbon fiber.  Gel seats are tight!  Just did 12 miles.
