How many times can you climb the stairs?

I decided to climb the stairs for 30 minutes for exercise, I didnt think it would be much harder then a 30 minute walk, but I only made it 3 minutes and 34 seconds, it seems like I climbed the stairs a million times I just kept going up and down, my right knee started to hurt and I got tired at 3m34s and stopped, maybe ill try to do it for 3 minutes 10 times a day instead of 30 minutes once

There's this park I used to go hiking at a lot and there were these women who would just go up and down this metal set of stairs there.

OK so I'm a bit different in that I see the normal tread grade on stairs as archaic but also I understand that old ppl are a thing. But still I always take stairs 2 at a time. I wanna say I can walk up them indefinitely. There hasn't been a stair i couldnt master. Its not like a moutain or something. But yah idk what the number is. But stairs are easier than a mountain cuz its pure numbers. Pick an amount of stairs u think u will get to and make that ur goal. Once u get close start thinking of what ur think ur next goal u can hit is. What ever number maybe its only Slightly less but think about it. Then just keep doing that and ull be surprised. Hell my thing is like picking a corner of one step to get to. Aim small miss small i suppose. Strairs can be alot of fun especially with music. Maybe some hot soca energy.

Yeah I often take them two at a time. Might not work so well for shorter people though. Or at least people with shorter legs.

I'm sure I wouldn't make it a full 30 mins these days, but I used to run stairs at an outdoor sports park that had stairs by the seating. Probably something I should try and get back into actually... Lately I just walk a bit.

30 minutes of stairs non-stop for even moderately fit people is a heavy workout. You might not be able to go up and down for 30 minutes non-stop, but if your goal is to do stairs for 30 minutes just adjust pace accordingly for 30 minutes and take breaks where you go up the stairs slowly, but see the 30 minutes all the way through.
People have difficulty finding exercise routines because developing habits is difficult when the practice feels like a self-inflicted punishment. Same with running, if your goal is to do 3 miles, you shouldn't stop because you're tired at mile 1. It's much better to see the entire 3 miles all the way through with walking, running and reasonable breaks, and each time you run three miles as a part of a routine, you will steadily increase your overall endurance and speed.

I can't climb many stairs at the moment; I get winded after 3 or 4 flights. 11 years ago when I was training for a marathon as a freshman I could beat my floormates up 7 stories by stairs while they took the elevator pretty consistently. I was running two steps at a time with a full backpack most of the time.
Good thing hardly anyone took those stairs or I could have plowed through some folks

I couldn't beat the elevator if it didn't make at least one stop, that would be some John Henry or Paul Bunyan triumph. There were 3 lifts in use so it was usually 1 or 2 stops max depending which one I was racing.

I had a job as a courier before and I had to deliver something on like the 30th floor. I rode the elevator up but on the way down I somehow ended up in the stairwell and all the doors will locked (because you needed a key card to swipe access) so I had to foot it all the way down 30 flights.
My legs were numb by the time I made it out of the building lol

I lived in Florida for years and even though my job is to climb up and down ladders all day I was still pretty much a "flat lander". When I moved to San Francisco I could really tell. It took me a couple months to get used to the terrain here and get used to hiking the trails. I forget about it now until I have a friend come in from out of state and they can barely walk any trails. Then I start remembering how I used to be that way.
My house is on a hill and has 30 steps to get in. It sucks when I'm doing construction and have to bring up 30 packs of shingles, drywall sheets, and concrete bags. When I move I'm going to stay in the hills, but I'm going to make sure that I have to walk down stairs to get in my house and up the stairs to leave so it is easier to do house work and get groceries.

I always use the steps, but with my broken foot about 4 flights before I need to rest it.
