Condensation in agar plates
    #26955556 - 09/26/20 04:50 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I did 40 petri dishes today the room I did the transfers was around 78-80f wen I was done I moved them to a room that was at the time 65f. Now the room is 71f and I noticed my plates have a alot if condensation in them. Is that because of the rapid temperature change. And how do I stop that from happening. I since noticing the condensation I inverted all my plates should I still be ok or did I damage my cultures

Best ways to minimize condensation is to limit wide temperature swings and to pour your agar at the lowest temperature possible.

Set them back right side up. If they have a culture growing on them, they'll be perfectly fine. If they're blanks, some of the condensation will clear up over time

Keep them stacked if you aren't already. Minimally all but the top one should clear up.

They are stacked and I did pour them at lowest temp possible I poured at 122. Well a little under cause I had to put my gloves and mask on I poured a little to cold.i wasted my last two dishes cause of that haha.but my condensation problem happens after I parafilm them cause the room u was doing transfer was 78-80f then I moved them into a room that was 65f then they all got condensation. Just looked at them they look better now
