Post trip blues

So I tripped last weekend, quite a hefty dose and then again the night before last. Very large dose.
I have only what I can describe as a post trip blues now. It's rough and deep and comes in waves.
Darn hey. Anyone else had this before?

I tend to get such a thing too and I think it is due to dopamine depletion.

Psychedelics & LSD specifically doesn't "use up" or "deplete" dopamine or any neurotransmitter....
....but I do feel this aspect of feeling a bit blue the day(s) after a trip with LSD does relate to dopamine in someway .

I have felt a bit down & blue the days after an LSD trip a few times over the years.
I feel it has something to do with the down-regulation of various receptors, feels like my mind & feels are a bit "flat" or "blunted" . Feeling low emotionally for no particular reason and/or a bit hazy minded cognitively. Sometimes I can be pretty lethargic and sleep a lot the day or two after a trip with L.
I have had some lovely lingering afterglows from LSD that left me feeling super refreshed and sharp for days after the trip....but LSD in particular can also leave me a bit out of it and/or feeling low for a day or few after a trip, more so than the other classic psychedelics.
I can't say I've ever felt like that the days after a mushroom or cactus trip...def feels like it relates to dopamine to me and the temporary down-regulation of receptors, but .
Were the trips "good" though? They just left ya feeling low & a bit out of it the days after?

Yeah they were mad good trips, full portal jumping and imterdimensional experiences. Like you said I slept for a couple of days after too.
Just unusual to feel down rather than uplifted afterwards.

Maybe the trips were just a bit wild... adjusting to "real" life might be all it is.

Interregulator of reality got ya feeling down!? How longs it been since the trip?
Give yourself a cool minute to adjust, it’ll pass / transform.

this may have to do with the lsd molecules occupying the serotonin receptors. the lsd molecule actually closes their lid, so it can stick inside there for as long as possible. as soon as your serotonin can plug back into the receptors (probably 2-3 days after a strong trip), your mood should be back to normal. maybe it works similarly for the dopamine receptors but i don't know anything about that. as far as the serotonin receptors go, this has actually been studied to a certain degree.

this is not to be confused with serotonin depletion as it occurs with MDMA and the like.

The last one was Thursday night, it's Sunday morning today.
Had quite the despair thing happening for a few hours yesterday, was pretty intense. Feel chipper as today though. Just chilling on the couch, watching movies.

Perhaps its the double dosage, or just the amount taken. I find sometimes after heavy doses even although the experience is beautiful and amazing and lifechanging, the brain almost just feels what I call "psychic exhaustion" that can manifest itself several ways. This definitely can carry on into the next day easily. But I find the day after that usually all is very well.
If I have to distract my brain during the post-integration phase with tv, movies, and mind numbing activities - then it isn't a good sign because I'm trying to avoid what happened during the trips and not integrate it into daily life and mind.

Just slept another 5 or 6 hours. Geez it can really take it out of you.
I'm not low like yesterday, finally coming out of recovery mode. I think I'll avoid such hefty doses in future. Too draining physically. It's been maybe 5 or 6 years since I aimed so high, I remember now why I don't generally do it. Was quite pleased that I didn't black out though, or I don't think I did anyway. Time and space warped pretty heavily for a while.
I'm all scraped up from falling down, though I don't remember falling. Face is a little bruised too. Lol. Phone screen protector is cracked and I've loads of timers set on it for some reason. Only the spirits know why.

It happens. Same as if you go for a long hike in the woods. You come back happy and tired, and it can take a day or two to get back to baseline.
Plus there's a lot to process. Uses a lot of brain RAM. On the rare occasion that I feel melancholic the next day, I just remind myself that growth can hurt a little.
