Good luck. Keep in mind stacking them creates a lot of heat and also movement of the sub (lids are less ridges than shelves). The movement can cause a lot of side pins. If you can use shelves. The very low spawn ratio is also problematic. 3kg or about 7 quarts is a bit much IMO. You can get away with 1 bag.

Just my 2 cents. Hope its helpful

good luck.. been there

an old mistake i made when i went this big was circulating stale air.  I had to take measures to force fresh air in the room..

Hmm. Thanks for the reply. This is interesting. Is it the movement from taking the tubs out of the stack to check them that makes the side pins?  Also I think the bags equate to about 2 quarts each, dry the grains were about 1.5 quarts. I added about 500g water to each 1000g bag before PCing.
Thanks@

Some advice I'd give is to start thinking about the logistics of the future asap.

How will you harvest them? What kind of staggering system will you be using to keep a steady rotation? How will you clean the tubs? How will you prep the substrate in a large enough volume? How will you dry the large amount being harvested? How will they be stored and how long will they need to be stored (this will help decide on method of storage)?

A lot of questions like that which are rather simple for a smaller operation but may require a bit more planning for a larger operation. Good luck!

Cvb989. Yes it is the movement when you check them that creates micro-climates conducive to pinning/side-pinning.

More importantly than the volume of the spawn is the ratio to sub. We have been finding 1:4-1:5 being optimal. You can check a current thread on this.

Airflow - YES. As trippleblack mentioned, is also very important.

Dailing in a 100 tub grow takes a lot of observation and patience.

Just posted and noticed Gan's input which is all super important and relevant.

Thanks for the great advice! I plan to start a rotation of about 2-3 tubs per day prepping the substrate after work. setting up all the tubs all at once would create a major issue as I wouldn't be able to dry them. I currently have 4 dehydrators. I just recently picked up a large mini fridge sized one with 14 racks in it. Should do the job pretty well.
Cleaning the tubs will also be a challenge. The black plastic liner will be removed and dumped and the tub will be rinsed in the bathtub/shower. I plan to then Bleach the tub and wipe it down with ISO after.
to store them, I will Vacuum seal them in qp food saver bags. This truly will be an immense amount of work! Hopefully there will be no mushrooms gone to waste!! 🌞

Do you think that my airflow system from the AC vents will be ok? I know its not optimal but I just cannot live in a house warmer than 72-74 degrees. The AC is on often, so that should bring in enough fresh air to suffice. Maybe I can secure a prefilter over the vent!
definitely noting to take special care when moving the tubs only moving them when absolutely necessary.

relying on just your ac vent sounds like your setting yourself up for failure.  You need positive or negative pressure for sealed rooms.

Your AC system is not bringing in fresh air, it recirculates the existing air in your home. The air in that room is going to get not so fresh real quick so I'd suggest a ducted fan bringing in fresh air every 45m to an hour from a window or whatever you can find.

This sounds like a huge undertaking honestly. Are you doing it by yourself? My grow room has a 50 tub capacity and I realized pretty quick that was too much to also have a life.

Be sure to take into account processing even after harvest. Sorting, weighing, bagging all takes a lot of time.

Awesome if you can keep up with all of it, seriously, but man there are a lot of pieces to this puzzle to work out. Burnout can happen in anything you do.

well with regret I must inform you that I am in an apartment building. We have central Heating. To be honest, I am not so sure where the air comes from. I would guess outside of the building? Certainly not from inside my apartment. The room used for the mushrooms is unfortunately isolated in the center of the apartment with no windows nearby. The best I will be able to do is a fan and the central heating vent. The room cannot be sealed either so any hopes of a negative or positive pressure room is shot for now.
To answer the question am I doing this by myself. It is a lot but I am determined to make it work. I have done 10-15 tub grows in the past. I might consider dropping the volume of tubs down to around 50; A potentially more manageable size.
If I were to install a ducted fan, it would be running about 100 feet from the nearest window through the entire house into this room. it is not practical.
What is the problem with using the central heating duct to circulate cool fresh-ish air into the room every 45 minutes if it is my only option?

Central AC/Heat isn't pulling air from the outside. It just pulls the existing air in your apartment, runs through the unit, and back into your apartment. The only "fresh" air you're gonna get is from opening doors or windows however often you may do that. I had a similar setup for a long time at less than 10 tubs and it worked alright but I noticed a difference when I ramped that up. Now that I have a dedicated and what I think is really well dialed space, my tubs are much healthier.

I'm certainly not an expert and others can chime in if they think I'm wrong but I think you are going to have problems with even 50 tubs without actively pulling fresh air into that room. Maybe you could at least be pulling fresh air into the apartment somewhere and it will eventually work it's way to your room?

Also, do yourself a massive favor and get shelving. Future you will thank past you

My suggestion in your particular situation is to reduce to 50 tubs and spawn to bulk 10 a day every 5 days. Put a decent air purifier in the room to compensate for lack of genuine fresh air and a small fan that is elevated a min. of 24" above the floor.

Got it! What do you think of this one? The room is only about 250 square feet so this should really do a good job of cleaning the air in there quickly. Would you suggest the fan be around 7 inches or bigger? any suggestions on a particular fan? where in the room would you place the air purifier?
Thanks so much

Plenty of folks use HVAC systems to feed air in. Would be good to have a return register, or open the door to one as much as possible.

I say go for your initial goal, you can manage 100 by yourself.
Shelves are your friends. Probably wouldn't hurt to not have all those spawn bags mushed together.
I'd opt for spawning twice a week as opposed to every day, that will get old.

You got buckets? Dehydro situation? What's up with the wonky holes? Substrate? Give us more breakdown.

You're gonna want the 2.5gal bags from target. Vac sealing qps will be a nightmare and too expensive.

Hope you follow through documenting, shroomery needs more threads like this.
