Transparent mycelium
    #26954810 - 09/25/20 05:11 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

First time I’ve had a spore swab give me “transparent mycelium”, usually it’s more ropey and white than this.

This is the fourth transfer from the original MS spore plate.

The information I’ve been able to find about “transparent mycelium” has suggested that the culture should begin to become more solid after 1 or 2 transfers, but I’m still not there yet.

Am I safe to drop this plate into a master grain jar so I can start a batch to clone, or should I keep transferring until the mycelium thickens up and solidifies?

It looks clean to me, just tomentose.  Whether it's tomentose or thick and rhizo looking have nothing to do with how the culture will perform and more to do with agar recipe.

You're fine to use it now
