I dont want the government deciding whats healthy, next thing you know they can only sell whole grains and shit like that, plus I like junkfood sometimes, I recently just bought a box of resses pieces cereal, but they will probably consider that healthy and sell it at the check out lol

Do you want the government to decide what is 'healthy', or the corporations to decide what is 'food'?
Without regulation they would be selling cocaine sodas at the supermarket to kids.

I follow advice of doctors, for the fasting theres Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Satchin Panda, Dr. Valter Longo, and Dr. Alan Goldhammer, for the keto/low carb thing there is Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Shawn Baker
I wouldnt really call fasting a fad, its ancient, maybe low carb is a fad, IDK, its still pretty old, theres texts that date back to the 1800's on low carb diets

okay well doctors also agree that added sugar and sodium are significant contributors to chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension

the link between hypertension and sodium is weak, Lewis K. Dahl couldnt get salt to effect normal rats very much so he inbred salt sensitive rats to show that salt causes hypertension, some humans are sensitive to salt but most arnt, like the dahl salt sensitive rats are
and walter kempner thought salt was a waste product of the kidneys and by reducing salt you would protect the kidneys from being over worked, but really its the opposite, your kidneys want more salt for easy work, making them reabsorb salt is making them work, they want to just dump salt, and kempners low salt rice diet findings are suspect
George Meneely and Harold Battarbee responsible for getting salt restriction into the dietary guidelines with thier paper "High sodium, Low Potassium environment and hypertension" people tended to ignore the low potassium part and that it was still only in those genetically susceptible

It's actually one of the most well-established principles of nutrition in existence. I have literally given people solutions of 1.8% or 3% sodium chloride (the normal level in blood is 0.9%) and watched their blood pressure rise by 30-40 points within minutes. We do it on purpose for people with low blood pressure.
For a lot of people in this country, underconsumption of potassium is arguably a greater contributor to the development of essential hypertension than than overconsumption of sodium, but overconsumption of sodium definitely plays a major role. The more sodium there is in your blood, the more water you retain in your bloodstream. The more water you retain in your bloodstream, the higher the pressure inside against your blood vessel walls. These two facts are totally indisputable at this point. If you take dish of water and place some sodium inside a vessel with a permeable membrane into it, you can watch the water level go down as the water flows into the tube with the sodium.

thats sounds like a unrealistic amount of sodium though, im talking about the 3-4g of sodium youd naturally sprinkle on your food in the course of the day, not injecting enough into the blood to double the concentration in the blood, im surprised to learn that dosnt even kill the person tbh, anecdotally I myself supplement 4g sodium on the day and if I eat that day I also salt my food on top of that, and my blood pressure isnt any higher then it used to be before I did that

because we carefully calculate how much they need in order to increase their blood pressure. In any case, I didn't even give you a quantity of sodium, I gave you a percentage, so there's no basis for you saying "I'm surprised that doesn't kill them", and in any case, the fact that you're surprised that using something as common as hypertonic saline "doesn't kill" patients who needs it speaks volumes about how little you actually understand about human physiology. and MY anecdote is that prior to taking those courses, I tried reading articles and watching youtube videos online about how to lose weight and be healthy, and I tried many of the alt/fat diets, including keto and veganism, and I didn't lose weight or get any healthier. taking anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and pathophysiology courses courses played a major role in my ability to both know how to eat a diet and implement an exercise plan that would optimize my health. If you're truly interested in both getting results and understanding why you got them, I would suggest taking some basic courses in them at your local college. It can't hurt you. Medical knowledge is fascinating and highly empowering in ways that measurable and easily tested on a case by case and population basis
Eating a lot of sodium at one time can kill you though. There's a case study I remember of someone who drank and whole bottle of soy sauce with 200 grams of sodium who had multiple organ failure and certainly would have died without treatment.
