Potency loss of dried mushrooms

Obviously storing in jars is the best way but can become impractical for large quantities, is storing in plastic bags ever acceptable if desiccant is used and the mushrooms are kept dry will the psilocybin still oxidize?

One gallon mason jars. About $32 for two on Amazon.
Storage in plastic bags will lead to rehydration over time. Desiccants help but not that much.

Yeah jars just really impractical if you are dealing with large amounts looking for alternatives.

Vac sealed bags work pretty good, just be sure to check to ensure the bag doesn’t develop a pinhole and lose the vacuum.

This just hypothetical but could you store them in open air if the room was kept at 0% humidity by the use of dehumidifier and desiccant.

I had some shrooms in a bag in a tackle box in a garage for a couple years. They got bendy and still worked. I think they're significantly less fragile than people assume

If you must use bags, try double or triple bagging it.

Storing them long term in ziplock bags is a very bad idea and I don't think dessicants will do squat. I've seen some potent shrooms get bunk af in ziplock bags over the course of 2-3 years and they can even develop mold over time if you live in a humid climate like me. Vac sealed bags FTW.

I think if you had triple bags with desiccant in each and the mush protected in the center bag you’d be able to keep them for quite a while if you kept up with changing the desiccant in the outer bags as it fills up. This would make a mess and be pretty unnecessary though.
I’ve got a few different containers I really like. There are bigger ones like this at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-Gardens-Flip-Tite-Square-Container-4-5-Cups/885267818?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222228900599413&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=463538777462&wl4=aud-834279576166:pla-367028257826&wl5=9007748&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=885267818&veh=sem
And I’ve got a few of the big glass containers with the hinged lid/latch and a rubber gasket. Those square plastic ones are nice though and you can stack them away if needed.

Ime those Mason jars with the gasket and hinge lid loose the seal after a few months. Regular Mason jars work good, you can get a six pack of the half gallon ones for 10$. I dont see how they could go bad though if kept in a room with no moisture, regardless of exposure to the air

For long term storage I throw a des pack in a vac bag. Then seal and put in freezer. I just fill up a big mason jar with a few packs and keep that stocked for short term.
