yeah FUCK petri dishes
if they werent so popular, and industry standard,
we'd use less plastic, and my unmodded jar style would be more popular.
Fuck petri dishes, fuck wrapping nice collections, no DIY style

I read somewhere that you could not reuse plastic petri dishes because you could never get them sterile again without melting. I have seen people use those plastic takeout sauce cups but could not figure out how to prepare them. Would alcohol be sufficient?

Alcohol is not sufficient. It doesn't sterilize.
Regular petris are polystyrene and likely radiation sterilized because they will not tolerate even boiling water, let alone steam sterilization. The takeout cups are polypropylene, which will.
On a side note, styrene petris are recyclable as #6 plastic, same as disposable utensils and CD jewel cases. There's nothing to stop anyone from recycling them except paranoia.

Well I'd say people do petri dishes more often because they are easier visablity. However, with Holy Grail dishes the visibility is great for me. Pastyplates not so much but those are the bee's knees when it comes to plopping an agar plate into some LI or jars.

Glass jars seem a little tall for me to use agar in. I've seen people doing that and it does look good but seems like more work because you can't put alot in PC. Plus doesn't that take up a shit ton of space on work desk?

When it comes to petris it is cheaper than no pours but its up to each person. I like petri dishes because they are cheap and clear but at the end of the day I wont use them more than once. Glass petri is the ideal.
Just depends on if you want to have low visibility on a pp5 container that can be reused but more expensive or a low cost pre-sterilized plastic petri.
I am admittedly in the non-eco court because I cant rationalize making the financial plunge into glass petris at this time.
As for petri dishes I have not had any issues with making them for myself and it is what I am doing currently and for the foreseeable future.

Nah people (myself included) use petris cause they take less time than no pours, better visibility, easier to stack and take up less space, easier to make transfers and work with, lower sides, etc.
I use petris for everything, but no pours are great as well. I find myself switching between the two sometimes. Depending on the application. They're not just for show or flash. Or whatever nonsensical point you're attempting to make here lol

I’m just trolling with the sterilizer...it’s a $30K unit my boy offered to me for free but I had no place to put it. Really wanted to take it for a future farm. The hood is mine though and I gotta say, if you ever get the chance to use a large hood, I highly recommend it; It’s choice.
