LC Tek Question

I'm doing the blender attachment and on the tek it shows him using a plastic mason jar lid modified with the self healing port after the agar is blended. I don't have any of these on hand and I was just going to take one of my spare metal lids and use that for the ship port. My question is will I be able to wrap it in foil and throw it (the metal lid) in the PC with the Blender attachment and water like is done with the plastic lid on the tek and have it sterilized the same way.

That would be LI.
LC is nutritious and given weeks to colonize. LI is used at time of creation
Why not just free pour it like g2g or crack it to aspirate?

Thanks for clarifying that, I want the SHIP lid for ease of use and the lower risk of contamination.

Have you seen magnetic stirrers?
You put the Teflon coated pill in the jar and make the LC then put it on the stirrer for a few mins every other day or so.

It would help if you posted a link of the tek which you are referring to
But yes, you can add SHIPs to metal lids, not just plastic ones. I prefer plastic lids, tho, and they're not too expensive

A SHIP is more risky than cracking the jar and sucking the lc up like that, following sterile technique.
A ship isn't sterile by the time an lc has colonized, it can only be sanitized.
The inside of the jar however should be relatively sterile provided you keep the air still and didn't touch the edges of the jar while inoculating it
Im always trying to minimize vectors such as tools touching anything they aren't supposed to, or shaky hands, breached lids. Etc. I don't even like using modified sfds anymore

^Yeah that's true. Some people don't even use SHIPs anymore for that reason. Even if you have a clean LC culture you can still get contams in your jars/bags from the SHIP

i used to do that, it worked great but its my least favorite way
I like to use 1.67g of LME per liter of water, a lid w whatman filter and heavy duty port, gasket, and mag stir bar, and use a sterile syringe of water to scratch and suck up some myc from agar (similar to josex poke method) then squirt that in the port. Mag stir randomly
This way is almost impossible to contam if you have a clean culture on agar, and way simpler than dealin w blenders and rust
