Stunned to see how similar it was to L
    #26949637 - 09/22/20 03:52 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Main worry before trying shrooms was losing control.

I've heard so many analogies that say "with L, you are in control. With shrooms, it is in control." That worried me because I didn't want to lose control, although I was (and still am) willing to surrender to the experience.

Over a decade ago I ate fake L and it was one of the most horrendous experiences in my life. Like entering the psychadelic world but everything is...off. Metaphorically it was as if the paintings were backwards, the furniture was upside down, and the worst part, loss of 'control.' For someone who has gone deep with cannabis and had successful L trips, frightening!

However, with shrooms, entering the mind space (after the come up) it became clear to me that I was in the same 'landscape' as past L trips. That sense of overall clarity. Feeling like I was sober for the first time again. That was shocking to me. However, the themes that were prevalent were essentially chosen for me. Although, many of the topics I wanted to think about during the experience did come up.

The biggest difference, a concept I will probably spend the rest of my life attempting to unravel was, the experience of speaking with another intelligent being that is not human while having as much clarity as I do now (yes I'm sober).

It felt like with L, you're entering the psychadelic world without a guide, however it allows you to plug into fundamental truth and witness multiple layers of the invisible planet. But when things go weird, you're on you're own.  With shrooms, it felt as if there was something there, even when it was communicating directly, there to help you through the experience. Why it cares is a question I currently have, because it expressed love thoroughly.

Wanted to express my thoughts on the difference (personally) :-)

Beautiful report; it's been years since I've done L but I completely agree that there is some spiritual presence to mushrooms, some intelligence, or something. And it truly is more intelligent than we could fathom. I cannot wait for an experience soon.

It revealed itself in such a stunning fashion. It spent quite a bit of time showing the limitations of my mind and myself (at least up to this current point in my life). It then showed up was possible, and it was then when (with eyes closed) it revealed itself and a genuine conversation with a transcendental being happened. It showed love and spent incredible amount of time showing me certain perspectives on endless situations in my life. However, I also got a sense that it had goals as well. It had a...personality. Much to ponder about.

I've done so much research and have explored much of what others make of this experience. Dennis McKenna famously calls them "ambassadors to Gia." One question I think we should all ask it is, "who are you?"

Wow, I've never actually felt that, in terms of having a private conversation with an entity. For me, it was more of a feeling or a presence; a guide. But I never went deep enough to have a conversation.

Mind if I ask:

1) I assume the conversation was not of language? Moreso innate communication?

2) How much mushrooms did you take? Any weed with them?

Sure.

1) It was English. It used a lot of metaphors. It was very analogous. It didn't just present ideas, it wanted it to become fleshed out and made sure I understood it. Totally bizarre.

2) Between 30-40 WET g's, so about 3-4 dried g's. There was a lot of weed with it (not edibles).

The setting was silent darkness, eyes closed (not for the whole trip, but when direction communication was made).

LSD (HBWR mescaline) expands and projects my consciousness infinitely outwards transforming the external world into something astounding and endlessly fascinating, because it heightens my consciousness/awareness of this reality and the surrounding cosmos to such an extraordinary extent.
Whereas with mushrooms and Aya I am projected infinitely inwards to a truly mind-boggling alternate/alien dimension.

When I first tried mushrooms I believed they were very similar to LSD, but with higher breakthrough doses, in perfect darkness, I came to realize they were actually very different and more akin to Anahuasca containing a rabbit hole to a metaphysical reality.

On very high doses of Anahuasca and in hyperspace though I can see the LSD so there is some sort of spiritual or familial connection between them but my conception of the two experiences is still dramatically different.

LSD is far more recreational I find whereas mushrooms are harder work and require more seriousness though as with anything in life the payoffs are better because of this.

LSD was also more religious in a conventional Christian sense (and secular too) whereas whatever one sees with mushrooms may be deeply spiritual but is so utterly alien and fucked up that I have never experienced it as religious in the manner I have LSD (shining white light/visions of God).

The tryptamine space is more Buddhist in character IME (and the imagery is indeed strikingly similar to the kind of stuff one will see in a Buddhist temple) with no God as such but a machine that one needs to surrender completely.

I just wanted to say I really love your description of the paintings being backwards, furniture upside down, etc. Really brought me back to some of my heavier LSD trips.

I also feel like mushrooms and LSD and actually very similar, just that the body high is more condensed in a mushroom trip (stronger but doesn't last as long). I've always thought they put me in the same headspace more or less it's just a matter of how the intensity comes and goes and how variable the dosage is. With mushrooms it's much more hit-or-miss for me since I eat them and they can take longer/shorter to kick in, sometimes have different potency between doses, not sure really. They just are less predictable whereas I tend to have the same trip on LSD nearly every time, of course getting less predictable when the dosage is increased.

Try Psilohuasca, the duration is lengthened to 9 to 12 hours so the experience unfolds and feels more similar to how an LSD trip is.

Bizarre no? That experience has left me smashed on the floor.

I have had the communication with the other. But I'm no closer to understanding what it is after several encounters.

Honestly after trying 101 different drugs (slight exaggeration maybe), I think these descriptions are only used to define the very subtle differences between the two drugs.

Compared to virtually any other class of drug, psilocybin and LSD might as well be the same drug at a certain point (minus the duration).

That's said, at higher doses the subtleties become far more prominent... but the overall experience is still pretty similar.

Wolf8312, I 1000% agree with you that when you enter the landscape in silent darkness, the STARK diferences are there. In fact, in that state, it could not be anymore different. That's the exciting part and IMO where the superiority of shrooms are to L.

Your experience with ayahuasca is fascinating! At the end of the day, these are the results of compounds put together, whether by nature or man. I believe the natural process of cultivation over millions and millions of years is an easier specimen to trust.

Interesting perspective on believing mushrooms are "harder work", I definitely agree. Lower doses of L  (1-3 tabs) you really can focus your thoughts in any capacity you want. With shrooms, its truly a storybook type way of unraveling truths about yourself and reality.

Jdawg, thanks for your kind words! I believe these experiences NEED to be articulated, or what's the point? It's such a crapshoot to say "it's beyond human language." While yes, I 'agree' initially, it's up to us to push communication further and be able to describe these landscapes. I believe it's our duty to chronicle our experiences.

Sabnock, interesting!

LosTresOjos , I understand man. It's the most prevalent question that has stayed with me since the experience. "Who are you?" I want to know so much more.

Rhizomorph, thank you for your expert insight! I haven't tried such a large variety so it's interesting to get the experience of veterans like yourself.

Nice report, I’m glad you enjoyed the experience.

Overall LSD (for me) is like an extrovert trip and mushrooms are an introvert trip. Things around me can become amazingly fascinating on LSD (I’m sure you guys know what I mean). With mushrooms I’m more interested in my own thoughts and reflections or just enjoying nature (without walking around as I tend to get glued to one spot). If I were with a bunch of friends or going somewhere LSD is the best choice. Solo or with just one good friend, mushrooms.

If I take LSD I chain smoke. On mushrooms I smoke less then normal if at all during the trip. Any of you guys find this to ne the case?

I did chain smoke on my very first lsd trip but that was only because I wanted to track time. I had a new pack of smokes with 25. I could not trust the alarm clock which was presenting time in reverse, so I smoked and kept adding 10 minutes for each short fag while walking 4 miles home barefoot from my friend's house, it was a purple doubledome I believe -1969.

have not smoked tobacco in 6 years, my iPhone shows no signs of going backwards in time.
