I really don't like the husk.
what kind of issues were you having with oats?
i use milo. you need to watch it while it simmers but after it's done cooking, i dump out the pot of grain and water into a strainer in the kitchen sink. i let it drain in the strainer for about 2 hours and then load. no shaking the water out, no spreading the grain out onto a screen, no fanning or forced drying required. the steam and moisture gets absorbed into the grains. after about 1 to 2 hours of sitting there in the strainer, it's ready to load into jars or bags. i bet it works with other grains too but i've never tried it.
munch, have you ever tried that with oats? i bet you don't need to do that extra step of spreading them out on a screen and fanning them. just let them sit there in the strainer for 2 hours and they steam dry themselves.

Same. Oats were a lot more difficult to get the water content down. Since I made the switch I have 25lbs of oats I feed to the birds and deer

Jar users, do you prefer wide mouth or regular mouth jars?
Why?
I prefer reg myself

I use exclusively wide mouth but only because I bought most of them at the same time. They’re probably easier to scoop grains with than regular

I have a jar funnel so it doesn't really matter for me.
I like reg mostly because all my wide mouth lids have modified and the whole sfd makes my reg lids basically single piece.

I'd prefer reg mouth over wide were not because reg mouth are a bit of a bitch to clean compared to wide mouth.

I'm talking about these jars:
Pretty sure Tweeq was also referring to these.
They're basically the same type of jar the food industry uses for things like pickles and what not. They are great for myco too.

I get them at a Chinese mall for cheap.
Thankfully they're not made in China. You can find them everywhere here, online and in physical shops too.

Yes Josex those are what we have. We order them from a shop that supplies honeybee keepers. That way we can have a lot of identical jars.
Like Josex said, they are perfect for culting
When we just began culting we used any pasta sauce jar, or mayo or jelly jars
Edit: added pic of how I do my one piece lids
