True, this is much more accurate. I'm trying to push stoner-level simplicity in my area, so i am cheating a little by saying Cubensis is the strain. Quick and dirty explanation, always gets an approving head nod lol.

Y'all, I'm tryna revamp my culture from some old dried up agar and it's taking awhile. Luckily I have some month and a half old spawn jars I can use.

So I bought a 50lb bag of oats months ago when I bought all my supplies at once and it's been sitting in my room ever since unopened. Tonight I heard clicking noises coming from it and I'm pretty sure there's grain weevils in it. Can I fix this by pouring some diatomaceous earth in there or is my bag fucked? It's looking like at least another week or two before I have clean plates ready for grains

might work. It's also said that a hunk of dry ice will solve the problem. I haven't tried either so can't say. If it's not too bad you could just cook them. Extra nutes! I'd probably just toss it and grab another bag, personally.

I think my issues with oats has been from not hydrating them fully/correctly
from pictures I see in some of the teks, they should be a lot more plump then what I'm getting

I have had jars fail to colonize from LC when other grains took it just fine, slow growth from A2G
could improperly hydrated oats be a cause of this?

I'm asking my girl to send pics now from home of a few sterilized jars that I haven't inoculated yet for reference

I've only used oats for going on 5 years now. Its so easy, just bring a large pot to a hard rolling boil on high. dump your oats in and set a timer for 20 minutes. leave the stove on high. at 20 minutes, take it off the heat and strain the grains and spread them out on a screen to dry until they stop steaming. maybe stir em around once or twice while they cool. once cool, load em up.

I starting having issues with oats so I switched to wheat. Prep is exactly the same but without the lengthy dry time. I love wheat now, I have a full bag of oats that will likely never see the light of day.

I really don't like the husk.

I loved wheat as well, but sourcing was a pain in the ass. Not consistent either, the 1st few bags were great, the next 3 were for planting and covered in a pink fungicide

The feed store just keeps giving me a run around on availability ect..

I fucking love wheat plus I can order it ahead and pick up from the store when they receive it. Easy to stay stocked.
And $13 Canadian for 25kg cant go wrong.

I also have cooked it too long so many times and its never really given me issues. Way more forgiving than oats.

Apparently tsc is switching names to peavey mart (its their west coast name).  Dunno if it's just the location near me or if it's all the eastern locations doin the changeover.

I will repeat for the thousandth time

Tsc/peavey mart is a good grain source for Canadians to anyone who isn't aware
