    #26950408 - 09/23/20 02:38 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hey so I have this it's about 15 days old you can see a clear area that's different to the rest. Looks like a mold or something different to normal growth. What's your t houghts?

Does not look like pins. Looks like mold of some sort. Can you take closer pics of it. It just so bright white that makes me think it will turn green before long.

Does look like some kind of mold.  And your sub does look incredibly dry.

yeah that’s looking suspicious. probably some hidden contams in your spawn. it looks like that top layer is a casing/pseudocasing. did you initially case it with hydrated coir that just dried out? or did you case it with dry coir?

So I cased it with the same coir that that I mixed it with but I sprayed over the top with misting spray. Damiens 50 tek. My coir was a little bit over hydrated and I squeezed it through my hands to drip out any excess moisture.

huh. it shouldn’t have dried out so aggressively then. maybe your lids are just cracked a little too much?

Hmm yep could be. I'll keep the misting up and monitor them more closely next time. Didn't want to over mist and cause issues not really sure what over moist sub looks like and what it causes. Thought drier would be better

in general drier is better but you don't want things to be bone dry. if your coir is field capacity it should be fine & shouldn't dry out during colonization. i usually give my pseudocasing a solid mist at spawn because my house is pretty arid

you really don't need much FAE during colonization so my suggestion would be to limit FAE in the beginning next time
