lol xbox and ps have identical button layout on the controllers. you think ps is more user friendly but first admit you have very little experience with xbox? i lol @ that.

Yes, I am right. Of course not 100% of them break, but most do. Especially the newer ones. I think I went through 3 PS3's and didn't even play them that much. And NES barely even worked when it first came out. You had to blow the games, push it in and out, and keep resetting to maybe get it working. There is a reason why you don't see a bunch of consoles in everyone's houses.
PC is the superior gaming machine. Only people without PC's would say otherwise.

lol i have a gaming pc and i never said it was inferior to consoles. i said xbox is the better choice over playstation.
and ive had the same ps3 for over 6 years. bought it used. never once had an issue with it

The truth is that consoles do break a lot. I'm glad you have had good luck, but if you look up "Fix Playstation" or "Fix Xbox" on youtube then you get 100's of videos. Not everyone has the same luck as you. I had a PS4 and that broke also. That is when I went to PC and never looked back, except for Nintendo because I needed Zelda and Mario!
I was never an Xbox fan and would never buy one. Would only buy PS's in the past, but if they really aren't getting Bethesda games then I would never buy a PS. GTA6 and Cyberpunk will be great. No Bethesda = No Playstaion.

Mine also broke except I had an Xbox that gave me the "red ring of death". After that point I switched to a $300 laptop and with just that it was enough to convince me to never switch back to consoles.

Buy both, easy solution. Deal some shrooms or something to cover the cost. Also, I dont want to burst your bubble, OLED do have amazing pictures, incredible fast refresh rates, perfect blacks. It's worth paying the 250 to have it professionally calibrated for the room its in. Unfortunately, they suck for consoles... burn in, its an issue with all the OLED panels currently being made, stick to movies, and buy at least a dame nice sound bar to go with it. Sound is half, sometimes 2/3rds of a movie, a good sound bar is a better investment than a new tv IMO.

Yo I'm a PC builder/game as well - but I hate to say this isn't exactly selling it so well  - that's not a very powerful computer or particularly economic build in the longterm... my 4-5 year old rig has 5x the storage, 24gb more ram, a way better graphics card, and a cpu that puts that i3 to shame - liquid cooled - and cost like 1200$~
If I spent about 1400~ right now I could make a computer 10-15x more powerful than my current one and 20-30x more powerful than that wimpy best buy shit
A powerful ryzen cpu, and a soon to be released nvidia 3080 will run about 1200~ combined but will already blow the new consoles out of the water and be equvilant to about 20 best buy computers lol.

I've been eyeing both, not sure of availability here in Australia recently all preorders got filled by bots. Guess that means a forced wait and plenty of time to decide between the two.
Slightly leaning towards the Xbox because the exclusives are more FPS style, which I prefer as a way to just play an hour or two to relax.
Am I right in thinking PS5 gets more of the racing / sports / rpg type exclusives? At least thats what I saw looking at some lists.

Oh no worries, I didn't buy the TV for gaming. It's specifically for viewing.
I have another 4K (not an OLED and a lower end model 4K) in another room that I can game with. I would use the PS5 (or Xbox) for 4K blu-ray viewing, however. I do have a couple of sound bars but they're old and since I shelled out big for the TV, maybe I should add a premium sound bar to compliment it.
Ugh I've spent a lot in the past few days. I bought a new laptop (nothing special but it was still $600), the OLED, and now I'm wanting a PS5 or the Xbox Series X. And possibly a new sound bar. God I would love a Bose or something.
Oh and I just bought a new coffee table too
