Small fruits
    #26948506 - 09/21/20 09:01 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Was wondering if there is something that I am missing during this whole process.. kept in SGFC at 68° (I know that’s in the colder side but that’s the best I can do), fanned 5-7 times a day, misted 2-3 times a day, humidity at 90%+ and my fruits keep coming out small. I’ve had really good pin sets but the fruits are usually between 1-3”

Please let me know if there is something I could be doing to produce larger fruits

Fruits shown B+ Cubensis
1st flush in all the pics
10 days from 1st pin to veil break

betting this is multispore grow in which case its kind of a crap shoot. Also pf cakes I think tends to smaller fruits (my opinion)
But there are exceptions to the rule.

Either way they look great and you still have hopefully a couple more flushes to go.

Bigger fruits you want to go with bulk grows and work with genetics of a clone of a known big specimen.

A multi'strain' grow (MS) isn't guaranteed nor even likely to affect the yield simply because a multi strain cake has a wide variety of strains with different genetics and fruits will thus have varied appearance. Now, in my opinion/experience the environment will affect the appearance of the fruits much more so than the genetics will. For instance I notice that the same clone I use will grow and look different on different substrates (or even on the same one) often times I notice that the size of fruits increases a bit when the size of the substrate increases. The same clone will grow 1-3cm tall fruits on a petri plate, medium size fruits on cakes and bigger fruits from a bulk substrate.

What's interesting is that even tho you have MS cakes (inoculated with spore solution) the appearance of the fruits is very uniform, if you had told me it was a clone I would have thought "aight, cool looking clone". What this tells me is that your fruits grow in that fashion because of the specific climate they're growing in. Not saying you have to change fruiting setup to change the appearance of the fruits, just saying that it's most likely environmental :super:

This is the same clone on all cakes.

Here is when it grows medium-large fruits

This is when it grows smaller fruits

Here it's growing both big and small fruits

What I personally call a 'full flush' is when a cake produces a flush that weighs more than 50-60g freshly picked. For example you can't count on 80 pins to develope into 20-30g each fruits, that would defy all laws of logic and physics right? A cakes capacity to push fruits will be determined by the water content in the substrate.

Thank you for the input! I seriously value every piece of information that’s given to me. I just harvested the 2nd flush and moved it to bulk. I crumbled up 5 cakes and layers it into a tub with a bulk substrate

Thank you for the input. I just moved it to bulk this morning after the harvest. I crumbled up the 5 cakes and mixed with bulk substrate
