Geek Squad + cult related pics
    #26947859 - 09/21/20 02:02 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

So I’ve used my laptop for a little cult related activity including saving some pics I had of my past OPs. Now I need to take it to Best Buy because of an error message I keep getting on the startup. Are a couple pics of some past OPs something I should worry about them finding? Is something like that even incriminating?

I still have access to my files so I might just go through them a delete them but that might even make them more obvious because you can’t truly delete them for good.... don’t know what to do. I can’t have any attention

Well, you could cut/copy the files you are concerned about to a flash drive.  Flash drives are pretty cheap, and if you're actually paying geek squad for pc service you can afford $15 for a flash drive.

As someone who actually has worked for geeksquad (albeit 11 years ago) I can tell you they are not bored enough to look through your computer, and especially aren't bored enough to run a hard drive analysis or forensic software to find recently deleted files unless that's what you're paying them to.

If the pictures aren't incriminating (disturbing isn't illegal, unless it breaks a law. Ie child pornography, actual evidence to a crime, or something like that) then just leave them.  If you can't shake it, move them from the hard drive to a flash drive and don't think another thought about it.

Technically it's best practice to always back a computer up before sending it for service anyway

Ya I probably have over 10 TB of external storage space laying around so that’s not a problem... I’ve got thousands of pics to pick through (mainly family pics) so I’ll have to weed out anything cult related... just not worth the risk of raising any flags...thanks for the reassurance though

what kind of error message on a personal pc could possibly be so bad you need them to fix it?

reinstall the OS if you have to, I imagine you run windows, they make pretty easy to use recovery files that let you keep all your info, can load them on a usb stick

Not trying to make you paranoid but I would avoid at all costs turning my laptop with cult pics on it over to some one else, even if I could delete them

I'm probably more paranoid than most tho :shrug2:

No I completely agree with you! It’s got me very worried! The error message is related to the hardware... it’s a “90B error message “ “ cooling fan not working properly “  so I’m not really sure I’d be able to fix it...but ya I got a family and I seriously cannot take even a slight chance so I don’t know wtf to do...

Yeah for what it's worth, telling us the error message might just save you a trip to the geek squad.  I got no problem giving you my two cents on your issue.  If I can save ya a buck thats great.  And if I can take a couple bucks outta geek squads pocket, that's a double bonus. Lol. Fuck those guys.

I'm really curious about your concerns with the content of your pictures.  Are you in the US? Freedom of expression? Religion? Speech? I don't see how being interested in, following, or practicing cult or the occult can have you flagged or prosecuted so long as you have not broken any laws.

The occult tho, forgive my ignorance, isn't that just Satanism?

Is this a laptop? Desktop? Custom rig? A fan issue should be pretty straight forward

hahaha flew right over my head! Im like, who fucking cares about a couple pictures of bloody goats and weirdos in robes!

Makes much more sense now and I dont blame you! lol

How long ago did you buy it?  Are you mechanically inclined?  Its quite possible something bound up the fan, or the fan motor just burnt out.  It would require taking the bottom of the laptop off.  A few screws and a few clips and it should pop right off.

First things first.  Have you seen this KB?
Look through it,
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03620929
Specifically the link that says "Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues."
Which takes you here.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768

I assume you have an internal battery, seems pretty common nowadays.  Looks like the second link says to unplug the laptop and hold the power button for 15 seconds.  This should clear any errors as it could have just been a one time issue.

If the issue persists, let me know.

lol bro 🤣

‘Occult’ knowledge is ‘hidden’ knowledge.

Ancient Egyptians, Hellenistic, Alchemical, Tree of Life, Fibonacci...I mean, Satanism technically fits in there to a degree...

Give a quick google my man,

Looks SUPER easy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=19&v=Yi-CF7HhH04&feature=emb_logo

This is another envy model on hps website.  Looks a bit different but also very straight forward.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04365621

If your computer is under factory warranty geek squad MAY fix it in store for free, but if things are anything like they used to be, they are going to check in your computer and keep it until parts arrive.  Assuming the even go the extra mile for you.  They are also likely to "send it out for repair" which will take a couple weeks.  Either way you are without your computer for 2 -14 days.  If it is NOT under warranty, (again  assuming things havent changed) they will want to charge you a diagnostic fee, and a repair fee and try to sell you a replacement.

If you are pretty good with this stuff, you are better off ordering the replacement fan and doing it yourself

not that I’m trying to make a point of contention of it, but that’s ironic considering that psychedelic experiences are largely intertwined with occult knowledge in more ways than you can imagine.

Shrooms are occult knowledge.  Start talking about communicating with inter dimensional beings and you’re there.

Trust me, it does interest you.  You just don’t know it ✌️
