Hello All!
This is my first post on this incredible forum and I would like to thank you all for taking the time to read and possibly offer some solutions to my predicament
So - a couple days ago I collapsed a bit while holding a BRF jar and while I am thankful the glass did not break, the dry verm barrier did shift. Upon further research, I now realize that I did not fill up my jar enough with dry verm which allowed it to move so drastically and caused the issue I now face
Any-who, after checking out my jar about a week later, I noticed there seemed to be something growing right where there was a lack of dry verm barrier. My curiosity piqued and I unscrewed the lid (I know >.<) to reveal what seems to be healthy mycelium and some sort of orangish fuzz which I assume to be some sort of contam. However, after checking out some of the common contaminate picture guides I don't really see anything quite like it (but maybe I missed something).
I suppose my questions are: is this a contam? (I was reading something about metabolites but I truly do not know) if so, what kind? Is there anything I can do to salvage this jar?
I have included some pics that are hopefully helpful...
I realize my jars are quite wet which could also be a source for bad things to happen and I have made notes to amend that in my next go around.
Thank you for reading and I truly appreciate your time in responding <3
(hopefully I inserted the pics correctly)

I'm pretty confident that the dry verm barrier must remain dry to be efficient at stopping contamination. It works in practice by letting any contamination hit the top of the surface (that is later peeled off) and sit there to die while the rest of the cake colonizes.
No, it's not supposed to be there. Yes, it is contamination. No, I wouldn't recommend trying to save this.
No harm in putting the lid back on and seeing what happens, but it may be time to put your eggs in a new basket.

Yeah get in the habit of making sure you have enough of everything before you start. Nothing aucks worse then having to make do because you forgot or didn't have enough.
