Fluffy cotton candy and popped corn looking growth

This is my first full sized monotub. Oat spawn cased in coir and verm.
They myc coming through the casing layer look generally like cotton candy but there are spots where they look like popped corn. I have seen this phenomena many times before. Just don't know what they are trying to tell me. Anybody?

Yes most growers have seen something similar at some point if they've been growing for a while. Personally I couldn't tell you if that's Cubensis mycelium or some other organism, I believe there are several different types of growth/contam that looks similar to whats growing in your tub. Just keep it going and see if you do get fruits as well. Gl

Fuck. It's trichoderma, isn't it?
My spawn was clean and fully colonised. The coir was soaked in boiling water for almost 8 hours (plastic bag inside a styrofoam box). Where the fuck did they come from?
Damn.

I don’t think trich, could be bacteria making it form those thick lumps.

It's probably completely fine, the assumption that such growth is always contam has been debunked by Bodh some time ago Mycogone Perniciosa AKA "wet bubble"

So oddly satisfying read and I still have no clue why I enjoyed reading it so much. I didn't want to read everything at once, I'm saving some for later.

Bod's thread is valid but I still err on the side of contamination by bacteria or possibly even mycophage.
I had a ksss clone that started doing shit like that and i was never able to separate whatever caused it from the myc.
These tubs are from before the contamination got into the culture:

And these are from after the contam got in:

Same culture only 2 grow cycles apart from eachother. I'm still trying to save that culture and it's been a year nearly.
If I hadnt watched the change in that culture with my own eyes, I may be more inclined to think it is just a natural pheno. That definitely isnt the case here

Damn. Mine looks exactly like yours.
I should stop opening my monotub and looking at them everyday.

Opening your tub wont cause that. Whatever that is, it's in the culture itself. If I let an agar plate with that culture on it sit for too long, the plate starts growing those weird growths.
Didnt used to do that so I'm pretty sure it was introduced by me during a session or possibly by a mite cause I've had mite problems in the past.

Just reading the first few sentences of that research link I came across there's no doubt in my mind that what we've been encountering is WBD (wet bubble disease) caused by Mycogone Perniciosa (fungal) infection. Well documented research and so eloquently described in the myco jargon lol

I just did the same thing. Dig them up and cut it open.
Looks exactly like yours except it's pure white, looks like myc, smells like myc, feels (texture) like myc.
Now lets see what will happen in the holes.
