Okay I’m having trouble posting but to make a long story short I was having trouble with some Contamination. I read up on some Info and believe I found out my SAB work was less than perfect soo I went back to the drawing board, made a new box, with under armour material to keep dust out and such... here are some pics please let me know what you guys think!!

-------------------- Hope I can help & Thanks for the help!

So did you use an old shirt or something like that? A similar fabric? I have to build a new SAB tomorrow, and I'm smelling what yer cooking there. Very sharp. I tried to do something similar my 1st SAB, but with latex, and then ziplock bag material. Scrapped them both quickly. I clearly had it all wrong. That's pretty clever, my friend! Does that kill the 'piston effect"? Did the edges of the flaps overlap, and then stretched to your arm, or did you make the edges meet like that? Did you try it overlapped, so that it closes as you withdraw your arm? How big are your arm holes? What size tub is that? Def want to give that a go! Cool beans, bro.
*edit: looking closer, is that just one square of fabric with a slit? Or is it two pieces?

I don't really mess with tight arm holes with material around them, when you put your hands in you can create suction or some sort of air pressure. This will create turbulence within the SAB which can lead to contamination. My sab has two holes that let my arms fit through easily.
Before I use my SAB, I let it just sit there for an hour or two to let everything inside it settle first then carefully enter my arms through the holes.

Looks like more trouble than its worth If your getting lots of contamination from a normal sab then I would say something else is the culprit.

Exactly. But, what I'm picturing with that underarmor material is larger arm holes with the fabric affixed as two slightly overlapping flaps. You can put your arm thru, but the nature of the material, and the overlap, prevent any kind of woosh or poof. It would keep the SAB air still and shut off when you remove your arm to flame or whatever. That's how I picture it in my head. I'd have to see it in action though

I think it is best to leave SAB armholes open. As mentioned by Fluffer and Nein, it is the piston effect that will be sucking air in everytime you pull your hands out. In fact, I would suggest making the holes bigger than necessary (i.e. bigger than your fist, about the size of extended palm).
Another good advice that I have taken onboard and had way better success is to get the biggest tub you can get yours hands on. My smaller SAB are more prone to contamination even with very slow movements. My huge ass SAB are very forgiving as long as I keep the work away from the holes.

Definitely good advice - it’s hard to tell from the pics how that material reacts but if it’s giving a piston effect then you’ve created another problem for yourself.
I also have some 7 mil drop plastic installed at arm holes, but it’s loose enough that there isn’t a problem. Adds a bit of extra protection against rogue airborne contams.

But honestly man, 1-2 hours is super overkill, especially considering you’re just going to disturb it again when you start working.
When you prep your SAB it should be wet on the entire inner surface, so you only need about 15 minutes for the air to fall, and for contams to stick to sides/floor.
Just trying to free up some time for you my man!

Idk 3-3.5" I put them there so b I can close it and go in and out of the room without worring about draft entering the holes. I have been thinking about making a bigger one I can do grain to grain in.

Thanks I appreciate the comment and I used old pants actually and cut one square piece of fabric and stretched it( not too tight) and cut a wide enough slit in order to prevent that (piston effect) so it won’t mess up the air inside it.... I read a post where some one lit some incense in their SAB and then pretended to do some work, so I might give that a shot... I’ll let you know how it works!
