Spore print yield
    #26945364 - 09/20/20 01:47 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

How many mushrooms can I get to grow from one psilocybe cubensis spore print/syringe?

Infinite. If you know what you’re doing a single print is enough to grow forever.

So would I put tiny droplets of the spore water in the syringe into the jars

Read, read, read and read some more.

If you don't know what a single spore print can do, you don't know enough to understand what you're doing. And no one is going to hand hold you through the entire process...

Might sound harsh but people are much more willing to help out people who have done their own groundwork.

You've got nearly 900 posts here so you're clearly used to the site. Spend some time going on rabbit holes.

I am pretty sure I know what I'm doing but I just want to make sure! I've done many months of research

I wasn't sure if only some of the spores would grow or if they have a very high chance of being defective. I read that there are trillions of spores in a single spore print but it really depends on the kind of mushroom. I'll be getting cubensis golden teacher because b+ was sold out

That's cool, again not trying to be harsh. I've found that by reading loads of threads, even if they aren't about something I'm working on, little things here and there click into place.

One thing I see people doing is equating spores with seeds or even more broadly fungi with plants. Once you realize that isn't the case, a lot more things will make sense about how you should approach issues.

As another beginner (2 harvests under my belt), here's what (I think) he meant by infinite: it's not so much a question of how much spore water you put into your jars, eventually your syringe will be empty. And you need to put in enough so that colonisation begins. I don't know what's the minimum, but just this week I put 0.7 ml into a jar, and I can already see signs of colonisation. But again, it will be empty at some point, and if you want to continue growing beyond that point, you need to either work with agar, g2g colonisation to always have jars with grain colonised, or learn how to make your own spore prints once your mushrooms have grown. These are just the things I've read so far, there are other techniques like cloning and probably stuff that I haven't even heard about yet.
Hope that helps.

Less is more, when doing a inoculation with a syringe.
THe less water = the less chances of contamination.

OP - you could also go agar from the start. With that you could inoculate a couple of plate, clean them 3 times and use the 4th plate as a master plate.
From that one you can inoculate multiple plates and just expand the culture that way.

Which each plate you can inoculate a jar or a bag.

That's what is ment by a single print will be enough to grow forever.

I started doing that. Agar to LC to WBS.

Another noob question: Could I just use the spore print from putting a cap on tinfoil to then put in a syringe filled with water to make my own spore syringe? What sort of sterilization precautions should I take?

Spores -> agar -> grain -> bulk/sub -> mushrooms-> clone and take spore prints repeat.

You said you have been doing months of research but it sounds like you found out about this hobby hours ago.

Read the teks and don't make spore syringes they are pointless unless you are selling them.

Make sure you piss in your spore syringe also. It helps it germinate faster in the jars.

Yeah I joined the shroomery in 2015 or 16 for the sole purpose of growing mushrooms when I was just a kid. I forgot most of the things I learned and have only started researching and learning a week ago.

This. You only need a tiny sample of spores to germinate on agar. Once you have clean agar plates you don't need to go back to spores for a long while.

You can make several agar plates which would be enough to inoculate dozens of grain jars directly. Or you could inoculate grain jars, then expand those into more jars with G2G. Then, once you grow fruits, you can take clones and do multiple grows with those clones without ever messing with spores

Then, even if you run out of clones, you can take a spore print and now you have twice as many spores as you started with, so you don't even need to ever use more than that tiny bit of your initial spore print

That's what Pasty meant by infinite
