Am I okay? A few split caps here
    #26944765 - 09/19/20 07:11 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I think my RH may have gotten too high due to misting too often(It was at 95%)? The stems swole extremely fat, so then I cracked the lid and got the RH back to 85 , are these split caps due to that? Also once I cracked the lid for a couple hours I noticed a white fuzz on some of the caps. This is my first ever grow and I really hope I didn’t ruin it😔. These are PFtek jars of Treasure Coast. Also these pictures are Of fruits that are about a week old and I’m a little concerned at the rate of growth. The cakes seem to have shit loads of pins developing if that helps. One of them has about 70 pins. I dunked and rolled a couple, left 2 naked, and double end cased a couple to evaluate which does the best. I’m fanning these 5-7 times a day. And I live In a very humid area.

Here is another photo you can se the stem even seems to crack or split a little. And you can see the white fuzz that appeared through my attempt to correct to moisture level

I'd advise you to just focus on keeping the perlite surface moist at all times by spraying it down first thing in the morning and before going to bed. Preferably you want to avoid misting the substrates as much as possible. Pins abort and surfaces dry out/bruise when humidity levels drop too much and stay low for extended periods, pins also abort because of being sprayed too much resulting in too slow evaporations, or even saturation which leaves standing water on top of fruits damaging them. The colony breathes and manages its metabolism by constant and gradual evaporations so this is crucial for a healthy fruit development, that's why substrates shouldn never be drenched in water. By keeping the perlite surface moist at all times you ensure constant evaporation and thus elevated humidity inside the chamber at all times which in turn slows down the evaporation of the cakes assuring that the right micro climate on the substrate surface can be created and maintained. I'd bring the spray nozzle close to the perlite and spray all around the cakes, or just remove the cakes for a sec while you thoroughly spray down the perlite surface. This is Ime the best advice for maintaining a somewhat balanced evaporation off the cakes without the need of spraying the cakes so much. Gl

Thank you. Yes I’ve been misting and letting it fall over the entire container. I will change this immediately . Very much appreciated . Do you think these fruits will survive? Should I just pull them off now?

I'd just leave the cakes to continue fruiting, I see some fruits are doomed to disappoint but I see healthy pins as well with potential of maturing into full fruits. Check out the link in my sig if your current setup doesn't give you the results you desire! Gl

Cakes can and should be sprayed directly.  Simply provide enough fresh air supply so the moisture evaporates from the cakes and fruits, and then repeat.

The biggest fruits you'll ever see come in cow fields where it rains like mad during the thunderstorms, followed by sunshine and a fresh breeze.

Split caps can be from rapid growth, disease, or poor genetics.  It's not a humidity issue unless they're sitting there soaking wet, long enough to grow bacteria due to lack of fresh air circulation.

Thx man. I prepped a new tub,
Fresh moistened pearlite , trimmed my tinfoil down to size of cakes and hopefully this new
Info will help me . What is the lowest RH acceptable in your opinion? Sorry for all the questions. I have OCD pretty bad and I’m kind of struggling to not over analyze everything.

Depends mostly on exposure time when it comes to low humidity tolerance, and also depends on the moisture buffert from the substrate surface, and how often that buffert zone is being replenished and so forth..

I switched everything over to a SGFC from my midwest grow kit and saw an immediate difference overnight. Some grew 8mm in 18 hrs!! Also no further signs of splitting caps on new growth. Thanks for the responses!
