What % of people fail to grow shrooms first time?

I thought of adding a poll, but wonder if many people who fail the first time likely aren't here anymore to answer the poll.
I was pretty amazed to succeed the first time, but I followed the directions, and I'm patient. I did have an issue, but people here helped me with that.
I am sure it's not rare to get shroomies the first time, but I see a lot of posts of people who failed to get usable fruits on their maiden voyage.
Did you get shrooms your first try? If not, what happened and how many tries until you got it?
I'm on my second grow flush now, and also started a second grow.
The second grow is from some spores I had of AA+. First grow was from a B+ syringe. The second grow I knocked up agar, and that agar is currently filling verm/rice flour jars and I'm very happy about it.
Thank you

I can tell you my journey...
I did a whole bunch of failing. From trich to nothing to jars all over the house filled with unmentionables that I fear to touch or open. It was years till my first fruit.
Some of my problems: trying to use spores from wild fruit, trying to clone wild, various types of birdseed and dodgy grains that had bacteria, failure to afford a proper PC, living in a place that has temps throughout the year 40-120F, getting my first fruit and realise I was growing pans not cubes (dry weight of flush 0.1g), custom lids, syringes, dirty LC, dirty LI, Fruiting chambers with mold. the list goes on.
I'm still learning.
Biggest learning for me however was that you gotta keep doing a little each week. Half the reason I have such a long history is I'll get something going take it all the way to fruiting and it'll fuck up only to not have any backup, so back to spore again. Then it'll be middle of summer/winter and theres new problems.
SO yeah whatever the famous quote is "always have something you're working on and something in the works"

I got mushrooms on my first grow, but if I got those same results today I would consider it a fail lol. I was so stressed about my first few grows. Misting too much, fanning the lid, peeking into the tub about a dozen times every day. I made it way harder than it needed to be.

Something about that got me a little choked up, in a good way. And it's not just that I ate shrooms for breakfast.

I inoculated 12 cakes first and lost like 7 of them. So the five remaining gave me shrooms but just a small amount, about 2g dry per cake. Now I’m shredding brf cakes to coir while I work on agar and pulling 250g wet per 2 cakes on the first flush

First grow, I 'sterilized' my BRF jars in the oven. Used bleach to wipe em down, and inoculated open air. Tried fruiting them in a tiny opaque rubbermaid with a fogger pumped in, and towels lined on the bottom.
I grew 4.5 grams. Most of the cakes developed lipstick mold. Also fairly certain I ruined my closet with the fogger. Thing stunk for the rest of my stay in the apt. that was like 2006.

Was oven sterilization a thing at one time??
I think this could also be phrased as “what percentage of people follow directions and do things the right way the first time”.
There’s so much solid information now that the success rate should be very high.
My first grow I followed an older tek from another site. Went syringe to grain to coir shoebox. Same deal as normal, obsessed over it constantly and kept messing with it. I messed up the casing and gave it too much air and thought I killed it, but then I quit touching it and boom.

Such happy days.

I think the best thing to learn when you start out is to leave it alone more often than not. And less is more, the more you leave it alone and be patient, the better results you’re gonna get for sure

In the beginning i thought my jars were colonizing within a few days but it was really cobweb mold.
I sure got good at growing cobweb mold lol.

This was how my first experience went, too. I was happy with it at the time but in hindsight, between the sketchy syringe and poor technique, I was probably lucky to get anything at all. I think PF is pretty forgiving if you follow the instructions and have some patience.

I started off big. 22qt mono. Got 3 grams dry before bacteria-fest. Threw eevrything out and started over almost immediately.
30ish grows and 7 years later, I can usually get a second flush but have learned to flush once then bury the mono in one of my raised garden beds and get a flush every time it rains. But that limits you to warmer weather, which I have accepted.
I consider myself a first time fail because it took my 3 tries to get a viable jar to spawn to a mono.

My first grow was 2 all in one grow bags & 8 BRF jars. The BRF produced but not much. I probably got about 10 oz. dried from the 2 grow bags before i put them out to pasture. Was all B+ & Golden Teacher so they were a little easier to grow. Right now I have 7 out of 8 grow bags in some stage of growing (the first one to colonize fully went south)

My first grow was in 1999 from a kit. Fail. Next year (might have been early 2001) I had a fish tank full of cakes with a drip shield. I maybe got a quarter from 10 cakes, if I recall correctly. All my info came from a friend who grew cakes in cooler and the library. Before that I just drove a few hours and picked bags of cubes in fields. I was soooooo frustrated with "cultivation". Found the Shroomery in 2002. Game. Changer. I remember that kit though. Bag of wheat that came with it turned green on top of my fridge and I took forever throwing it away because I was so sad lol.

TBH i think we all "fail" the first time (especially if you are using BE as a gauge). I really dont consider it a true fail however as its the start of the learning process.
If you can fruit something that has a reasonable pin set to start off and then doesn't comtam for a couple flushes, I would say its a win.
I have seen a lot of scaled grows truly fail however. Too ambitious, too quickly leads to failure almost always. What you did in the hobby stages doesnt completely translate to scaled grows. The variables compound exponentially. This is where a lot of people give up.
