New to the hunt.

Hello all,

Just getting started on seriously following the fungi that grow literally in my backyard.  I have been stalking my neighbor's mushrooms on his trees and the ones that I keep finding on my puppy walks  in the shade.  I have a buddy in GA that hunts, mostly finds chanterelles (sp?), so my interest sparked and I found ya'll.  Interested in primarily ID of lethal/poisonous to keep away from my dog and edible to cook with, but if I run across something that is a little trippy-I'm ok with that too.

Welcome! You're in Florida for cripes sake! Now is the time to look, especially after rains. I hunted some in Gulfport/Biloxi many years ago and they were prolific (psilocybe cubensis). There have been many posts about Fla and hunting, good luck on your quest! Might be a little late in the year, but you might find some.

Randomly running across psilocybin mushrooms is pretty rare in most places. They tend to grow in pretty specific conditions.  Except for cinctulus or maybe gyms, but... they might as well be inactive ime. You gotta find like 12g of them to have a trip in my experience and that amount always fucked my stomach.

Happy hunting though. In florida if you go the right places you'll drown in cubes
