One of the older sponsors seems... different.

it seems a charade, as a privacy matter, to have to call in to pay only to have voice documentation made of all the details of an order. At that rate, why not put the payment module on the checkout page. The matter was previously accomplished by simply verifying one's order number and paying. One of the newer vendors/sponsors uses venmo (and cashapp, and zelle) in just that simple way. It may be time to de-sponsor a vendor for having become disingenuous/compromised.

Not so fast. Putting credit/debit card interfaces for these spores is problematic at best. Banks consider these drug paraphernalia even though they're legal, and won't touch them. Card processors won't touch them. To bypass this restriction, one has to get creative. This is what is happening. Nothing is below deck or shady. They are totally legit and deserve your continued support!

they created an abyss into which their own business will fall (one does not leap an abyss in two jumps). It is not on me.

The same thing is true sometimes for ordering kratom and CBD from legit vensors. They're both legal, but the main credit card companies and especially credit card processors don't want to have anything to do with them.
So vendors often have to go with Chinese processors that charge more, or companies in your country that require more hoop jumping, because they're under the microscope.
I've even heard of a credit card reversing a payment made for kratom after it was processed, because they decided it was "drugs" and / or "fraudulent."

Inverse hanseling & greteling. I suppose that some microscopy hobbyists don't want others to know of it, for fear of being labeled a nerd/geek/loser/without-girlfriend. Still, where that privacy is often desired by the client, and the vendor knows it, wtf with the white-pebbling (telephone modus of said older vendor). I had not used venmo before, until finding that the newer vendor used it as their ad hoc encryption, where only the order number need be confirmed... through said App... and not on a recorded phone call. Their first concern is for their privacy (the functional paywall privacy); understood. But not to extend the courtesy to the client only indicates one thing.

It sounds like you're saying "I don't like how the modern Internet actually wants to know things about me when I buy something."
That is the nature of eCommerce.
It's more work, but instead of complaining, you could buy everything local, with cash or Bitcoin. Or Monero. Or silver bars.
I'm sure you could stand in front of a large supermarket with a gardening center, wearing a mask covering your face and ask until you find someone to go in and shop for you, if you want to go to that effort.
Don't dump it on the vendors. They're doing what they can with what the modern world will let them do on a larger scale.

That is a dissociated response, untethered to the subject (boolean) gateway. Lack of respect begets same (eg the older vendor). Respect begets more business for the new vendor.

There's two kinds of people. Those who have had a bad interaction with cops and those who haven't got their turn
