Great message, delivered horribly. Killed at cat to show animal cruelty is bad.

It's a terrible movie, for sure. I don't think anyone disputes that. Still, if you see a value in presenting that message, then you can at least balance that value with the harm you believe it caused these actors. IMO, that harm is little, if any, but let's assume arguendo that they were fucked up for life. Isn't it worth fucking up a few people in order to prevent millions from being fucked up?
After all, whatever your take on the movie, you can't deny that the outrage has caused the movie to be watched by a whole lot more people than would have otherwise seen it. That outrage wouldn't have happened if those characters were played by middle aged housewives.

From a marketing point of view it was genius, as people with zero affinity now feel forced to watch it to have an opinion on their social media.

Imagine a French film being top 10 on Netflix. That's marketing brilliance right there.

Much of the uproar is due to how Netflix marketed the movie- absolutely brilliant, from a marketing standpoint.
In your hypothetical, it's not just the child actors being impacted. It's the little girls of today that will either see the poster or even if they watch the movie- Will see themselves naturally as the main characters, and naturally imitate what is being presented as 'cool.' All it takes is one viewer to become a vector, imagine how trends tend to spread like wildfire- and there is certainly enough attention on Cuties, atm.
I'm aware the film's message is positive.. But they went way too far. Not to mention how it was filmed, just creepy and gross.
We disagree in that the harm outweighs the good.

That's the parents fault. Netflix shouldn't have to make child safe content.

Assuming you've watched it, let's dissect a single scene.
The girls sneak into laser tag and get caught. The guard says give me your numbers, I'm calling your parents. Cuties retorted, attempted to leave, guard grabs an arm, girl accuses him of being 'some kind of pedo' and says 'let us go we're dancers.' Main char proceeds to turn around and twerk to the ground in front of guard. Guard obviously digs it. Second guard shows up, had faith in him. But instead he allows the girls to come onto them until they open the door and let them go.
What has this taught a young viewer?

The movie is rated TV-MA.

This scene alone is instilling normalization of pedophilia and teaching young girls that their bodies sex appeal can get them out of hot water. There was another scene where main character gets into trouble, begins to strip and come onto her own cousin. That was right before she spread eagle and published a pic of her genitals online.
The whole movie was unnecessary and out of control. Not to mention, the way it was shot- the camera angles, makes me seriously question the film makers, as well as who their target audience is.
Netflix capitalized on this concept by releasing the provocative poster. Who is it that would see that poster and be interested in watching?
The writer and director could have conveyed their message in so many other ways, but they didn't. They chose to make this movie the way they did. The harm far outweighs any moral of the story.

So what MA would be interested in watching this..? As mentioned, most people would have never viewed it had this fiasco not erupted.
I remember watching Chucky as a 7 yr old. Can guarantee 11yr olds will see this movie. Or want to see it, or will hear about it. As mentioned, it only takes an individual to start a trend.

This movie isn't for children. Any parent who lets his/her kid watch this is a bad parent.

But horror movies don't star 11 year olds in a 'coming of age' tale.

Stressed repeatedly, no one can deny how susceptible kids are. Their minds are sponges, so even if something isn't 'supposed' to be a lesson learned, they get something out of it.

So, you are saying the world needs to be made kid-safe? That's stupid as fuck. If kids shouldn't watch something, it's the job of the parents to control that. If the parents can't/won't control it, they shouldn't be parents.
