I searched the article for "inflation", it does not appear.
What are they comparing their estimate to?
The FEE is a Libertarian think tank, aka. Republicans who want weed but have no plans for much of anything.

DOOOOD. It's still dumb.
It's a dishonest number because it compares current costs to past costs without factoring inflation. The source is also biased.

I will say though that with increased inflation you get decreased buying power. The equivalent of 1 million 2020 dollars is going to have way more financial influence the further back you go so there is defintely a deceptive angle to purely calculating for inflation.

So if cops kill more people or less people, will we have more buying power?

Idk what you're getting at but I mean the convenience. The technology. Go back before cars were commonplace, there's a massive expense gone. Houses/land used to be cheaper. Heat, electricity, shit like new clothes and washing machines. All these little coveniences add up to the money being more worthless to us because owning things necessitates spending money and the more we need the less money we have. Even think about all the laws and expenditure that have been added to the services that would be used to repair and just generally deal with the damage in the first place in even the last 50 years. Wages, unions, insurance/liability, ciies are simply larger, building codes and zoning laws, ect. I would be very surprised to hear its not more expensive overall, now, than in the past. Factoring for inflation of course.

What I'm getting at is cops killed the dude, then there were protests, some of which turned into riots, which caused economic damage. Then there was a lot of media attention. Then cops killed more dudes, which lead to more protests and riots, and more property damage.
Then this thread started relating that to inflation, which effects buying power. So I asked if cops kill more people or less people will I have more buying power.
I'm not saying there was zero sarcasm in my comment, but if inflation is involved here, then I want to know how it might effect us. In simplest terms, will more cops killing people, protests, riots, and property damage or less make my next trip to Wallmart more pleasurable for me.

War is money. Greed is out of control (capitalists and corporatists making corps a human entity ). Do any of you think that ALL of the businesses will be honest about loss?

Insurance companies just like receiving premiums and not paying out claims. The fact that they actually had to make some payments to their clients is just horrible.

Who pays when we go to war in another country? Every time we do, certain people are always glad to chime in and tell us how good war is for the economy.

Yeah but those wars happen in other countries so it's a bit of a different scenario.

No. They let their cities burn and then ask for federal money. In this story they were rejected but so much damage has happened over the past few months, I'd bet taxpayers will be paying for the damage at some point. https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-minnesota-george-floyd-relief-fema-20200711-yaunv5e3zna3datwb52ga66iqi-story.html

Thankfully Trump is president and isn't getting us into any wars and he's bringing troops home.
