Building a 55 Gallon Drum Sterilizer
    #26941435 - 09/17/20 09:57 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hey everyone,

A quick search didn't bring up much about this, but I am about to start building Myer's Mushroom's 55 gallon drum sterilizer and I've run into some questions.  How do I stick the inkbird temperature controller into the barrel to regulate the temperature?  Do I need to drill a separate hole to run the sensor through and into the water inside the barrel?

Also in regards to the holes for the drain pipe, float valve, and element... do they need to be welded or can I just drill the holes to their appropriate size and apply a sealant or O ring of sorts?  For the drain I got a "Buckhead no weld" style pipe, but the other two I'm not sure about.  I apologize if these are stupid questions.  I'm not the most handy person.  Thanks for the help, guys.

Hey man I'm in the process now, so someone may come with a better answer, but from what I've gathered/am about to do myself...

No welding, just 1inch (?) Hole saw + O rings, the ink bird can go in a drilled holes through the top lid (not into the water but by the bags).

But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go
If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow
That it's one thing to try and another to fly
You get there quicker just a step at a time
It's one thing to bark, another to bite
The show ain't over till you pack up at night
