For a marathon session at a festival, its some sort of lite beer for most of the day/night and a couple stronger ones tossed in. If I'm drinking for pure pleasure of the taste, strong beers are typically more flavorful and brewed in smaller batches, so I guess it depends.

Day to day a nice low to mid range abv is my preference. 5% is right in the pocket as far as flavor profile from the malt and drinkability goes. Most of my favorites are high abv but drinking Gulden Drakk in a canoe all day won't end well so it's good to have some sessionable brews on deck.

I drink beer of all sorts, when I do drink beer.
After a hike on a really hot humid day, I'd prefer to imbibe in something cold and light - like a fat tire white ale, or stella artois, or something. Just really hits the spot. The lower calorie and carb count can be a little more forgiving too.
But now that it's colder I expect I'll be craving some stouts and porters again. I'm a basic bitch and I go crazy for pumpkin spice, and fall, and I love all the seasonal brews that come out around this time of year.
I'm gonna try and hunt down some of this copper kettle pumpkin chocolate stout, out here on the East Coast. Looks like it's up my alley

I do like chipotle ale too, but it's sort of a one and done kind of thing. A lot of beer is for me, because I tend to like ridiculous beers.

My favorite is a german style dunkel or brown lager. Von Trapp in Vermont makes the best one I've tasted in the states... tastes like the fall.
I'll drink whatever though. Shitty lite beers have almost a nostalgia to them, not something I'd buy and drink on my own but if it's all there is at a cookout or something I won't hesitate.
I went through an IPA phase before they really got big, I used to have to drive an hour to this one bar that had a selection of them. For some reason they've completely lost the appeal for me though, every now and then I try one that I like but for the most part I'm just not a fan anymore, it's like my taste buds started to reject the hoppy bitterness.
Booze just doesn't agree with me anymore though . Any more than one beer and I don't even feel human for the next couple days, not really a hangover I just get super dazed and anxious, sleep like crap.

Ironic being where brewing beer became an art. Most of the classic monk beers still hold a hell of a torch against the hipster bullshit flooding the US market though.

The Von Trapp Marzen is amazing. Looking forward to my friend bringing me a case down from Vermont.
Edit: Also, Trappist ales FTW.

Last night I had a triple that was 10%. It was awesome.
If I’m raging it’s going to be Genny Cream Ale.
I haven’t bought a light beer in 15 years or more.

I prefer stronger beers, but I also have tremendous respect for pilsner. (What you may call "piss") And I think it's misguided to make fun of it.

That brewery is wild. They had a special release beer that came with its own custom beer coozy made from a squirrel pelt. $10 say that 32%er tasted like burnt soy sauce. Despite that I have always wanted to try it just can't ever find it. Congrats on that score JSB.

I've got a picture of me holding that same squirrel bottle somewhere. I used to frequent their pubs often. Hell, I even bought shares in that brewery.
And for those that ask; it just tasted like a bloody strong stout. Nothing particularly special, aside of the fact it was strong AF.
I believe they were in an arms race to brew the strongest beer at the time.
Some German brewery was their competitor.
